1905 Plumbing question

Hi All, thanks in advance for any advice you can give me. I just picked up a 2017 Rockwood 1905 last week and went on a trial run this weekend. I've owned a small class A before this trailer so I'm familiar with most RV issues. However, there are a couple of things in the 1905 that I wasn't sure about and the manual doesn't cover (as far as I can tell it barely covers anything specific to any trailer).

The main issue I have relates to plumbing. Dewinterizing was pretty straight forward and the hot water bypass was easy to figure out. However, there is a 3 way valve at the inlet to the water pump. I have no idea what this is for. Does the valve switch between the pressurized city water and the water pump? Or is it just a general water on/off valve?

Possibly related is the fact that I couldn't get the water pump to do much. It would spit air and a little bit of water out of the fixtures but wouldn't do anything beyond that. I put only a little water in the fresh tank, maybe a couple gallons. Does the pump require a lot of water in the tank to prime?

Finally, the access door for the water pump and hot water heater under the dinette bench seems odd. It has some significant hinges on one side (rear of the trailer) and a small non-functional hinge on the other side. There are two screws which would go through the smaller hinge but they look like they were pulled through when someone tried to open the door. There is no other latch or magnet to hold the door closed. Is the intention that you would have to unscrew the smaller hinge every time you wanted to access the pump and valves? Or am I missing a latch there?

The 3-way valve switches between the FW tank and the anti-freeze suction line. Lets you pump antifreeze into the system when winterizing.

Most pump suctions are not off the bottom of the tank, but the side, so you need enough water to cover the suction line.

For some reason, they like to put the water heater bypass valves behind cabinet doors with hinges on both sides. So yes, you have to unscrew the single hinge and then open the door to access. I guess since they think you'll only do it twice per season, it keeps people out of it the rest of the time.
