2009 Rockwood Electrical Issues

I just discovered today my 09 Tickets Rockwood is having electrical problems.

It's hooked up to 30amp on my property, and I verified it's getting power.

The weird thing is the microwave works, and a single GFCI outlet above the kitchen sink works. Other than that nothing else works... Lights, slide outs, fridge, other outlets...nothing.

I tried resetting the breakers, that didn't fix it either. Fuses look fine.

What could it be?

Let's see if we can troubleshoot this, and it may take several posts of questions to ascertain what all could be wrong.

When you say it is hooked up to a 30 amp on your property, is this a new installation as far as the RV is concerned. What I mean is this somethIng you have just started plugging the RV into, or have you used it previously on the same rv?

Have you also recently replaced or connected/disconnected a 12 volt battery in this RV?

It isn't new, this 30amp connection has been used for years on this same rv.

The rv has sat here connected and unused this entire year, however i know for a fact everything worked fine a couple months ago.

I haven't messed with the battery at all.

I'm back to my property and my rv still obviously has the same problems. The power tongue jack won't even work so can't move it.

Can anyone try to help troubleshoot my problems?

Follow the positive battery cable to a resettable circuit breaker

Your also confusing 12v items from 110v items.

You need to be checking your battery status and converter.

Everything that is not working is 12v , which is battery operated.
If your battery is dead and your converter isn't working all the things you describe not working "won't"

... except he said his "other outlets" didn't work either. I'm not sure how he tested these.

Since you didn't post what Rockwood model you have nor is it in your profile, hard to say exactly where the converter is.

Your battery should be on the A-frame.

Some converters are mounted with the power distribution panel (breaker box) and some are separate. Even in separate units they should be fairly close to each other.

In your unit they should be together, but having the model of the RV and the make of the power panel would help.

Almost sounds like some bad connections at the panel. The microwave and that sink plug could very well be on the same breaker. That those two items work suggests that power is getting to the panel, but not leaving at all points. I'd pull the breaker panel out (after disconnecting all the power) and check to see if rodents didn't manage to get up in there and chew up some things. I've heard of mice nesting behind the converter since it's a little warmer when the battery charger is going.

The model number is 8306SS and it's a 2009 model.

My breaker box only has the breakers, and the fuses. I don't see anything labeled a converter.

I'd appreciate any help!

Do you have a dc voltmeter? If not get one. Very cheap of even free at Harbor Freight Tools. Very cheap other places. Once you have one, measure the voltage at the battery with the camper plugged in. Then unplug the camper from shore power, try a 12volt light and read the voltage at the battery again. If nothing 12volts will work,Leave the camper unplugged, wait a half hour and read the voltage at the battery. this is a good place to start that is easy to do. Jay

The converter is behind the fuse/breaker panel.

You have to pull the front panel off to see the converter and power connections.

Be sure the power and battery is disconnected before probing around there.
