2011 Rockwood Roo 23rs Door Strut ripped out. Repair suggestions

So the door strut departed the frame at the door side and took a 3" chunk of metal with it. I can get the door weather tight with caulk, but any suggestions out there to keep the strut working. Any way to reinforce the upper door frame with angle iron or strapping? I'm Trying to prevent it again without having to replace the door.

The same thing happened to mine. I just cut 2 pieces of metal the same size and put one on each side of the door and bolted right through both. It's been going strong for 3 years now. (Knock on wood).

Thanks dirt. I did something similar but used metal fully across the top of the door to give me extra room to readjust as needed. It's been good now for 2 months straight with multiple exposures to 20+ mph winds thanks to our 3-year old. Thanks for the inspiration.
