2012 2306 mini lite

we are picking up our used 2306 next week from a dealer. I am not sure if there is a water filter built in to the 2012 year of the 2306? does anyone know and where would it be? I don't remember seeing one.

I'm pretty sure there is. My 2012 Roo 19 had one.

Trying to find it is the trick. Sometimes they hide them very well. It could very well be behind one of those thin panels they like to put in to "hide" stuff.

On the other hand, since the unit is used, the previous owner may have removed it. Lots of threads on the forum here about the filters breaking and flooding the camper, so many folks have removed them.

good to know. I will look for it when we go over the camper. They said they take 1 1/2- 2 hrs going over the camper. I think I may by pass it if it is there and use a outside filter.

if you dont have one consider yourself lucky....new elements are expensive [$40] plus it adds extra work winterizing.....walmart rv section has filters that fit between fill up hose and camper....about $15.

Usually located near the water pump. Just listen for the pump and it'll probably be there.

It's located in the front pass thru storage compartment, on the drivers side. You have to stick your head in and look up from the water pump.

Ordered a replacement water filter (WaterPur KW1) yesterday for $30 and free shipping. Used the search feature. Hanna Trailer Supply, I believe.

Look inside, the compartment door near the Hot Water heater, mine is on the left rear. To access, the thin, wall panel must be removed, maybe 3 screws ( note mine uses those square drive type). Once removed, you can access the water filter,( mine came with a big, white plastic removal tool) and the bypass valves for winterizing. Mine also has the water pump( also has a small glass screw off filter to trap maybe sand etc before entering the pump) on the floor next to the hot water heater, behind the same panel. I decided to leave my panel out and gained a little extra storage space. There is a 2 socket receptacle in there, one for the hot water heater and the other you could use as wanted.
Happy Camping !

Do you have to put a cartridge in the water filter?

If you want to use the cartridge filter it is about 9 1/2 " long.Water Pur KW1. I rinsed mine out and let dry then put it in a ziplock til after winter. Looks brand new and really did not use but about 30 days of camping. You could use an external type instead?
Not sure how or if you can compare these but I bet someone in this group can chime in?

I have a 2306. The water filter location is different if you have a Murphy Bed or not. Do you have a Murphy Bed?

Remember mine is a 2015. Yes, I have the Murphy Bed and we added a 3" memory foam topper that still allows it to close easily.
Feel free to ask me any more questions.

We didn't have one in our 2011. Perhaps they added one in 2012.

Our 2306 is a 2014 built in March of 2013. It has the Murphy bed and the internal water filter is exactly as KeepTravelin describes. Take out the flimsy wall in the back of the storage compartment on left back. The water filter is right behind the water heater. I bypassed mine too. I picked up the fitting at Lowes Hardware. 4 bucks or so.

Now, 2 very slight down sides to using an external filter.

The first is that according to some research read somewhere on this forum the blue external filter most people buy does not filter to the level as the internal one. It gets the crude out but doesn't filter for taste. We always bring a couple of gallons of drinking water so we wouldn't know. I don't think that is a deal breaker and if you want you can get better outside filters than the common one everyone gets.

The other point is that the external filter does not filter the water you use in the fresh water tank. So it's a good idea when you fill the fresh water tank to fill it using the new external water filter you just put in when you eliminated the internal one. Get it?

This one has a Murphy bed. We will bring gallon jugs of water for drinking and road flushes if needed! Figured it wont hurt to filter the water some before it gets to the pump and water heater. Sounds like they put the filters in real easy access places! ha ha

I now buy the $10 filter at Walmart instead of a $40 filter from camping world. plus it just serves as a anti-freeze reservoir in the spring it's hard to get the anti freeze out of there. I just cut it out and bridged with blue pex.
