I sent an email to Forest River posing the question about casters on my trailer. They responded with this:

I cannot advise welding anything to the frame, this will void out any warranty you have on the frame. We do sell a riser kit that could possibly take care of this issue for you I would recommend finding a local forest river dealership to inquire on getting this added to your unit.

So, for me anyway, casters are out. Thanks TURBS and B and B for the good advice, I hope you don't mind that I verified it with FR. The Dexter Lift Kit is my next alternative I guess, just not sure it'll give me enough clearance being a 2 5/8" lift.

You can make your own out of 2 x 4 x 1/8 or 3/16 rectangular tubing, mig welder and a drill, or whatever height you want. Just look at what's under your trailer now and duplicate it. I believe it's 2 x 4 x 1/8 tubing from the factory.

Thanks, I have a friend who can do that for me, just need to source the 2x4x1/8 material. I wonder how much lift is safe?
