Understand. I'm thinking a piano hinge on top of the existing 4" headboard (if I have it) with an 8" extension that would fold horizontal and hold pillows. Apparently your 12" headboard has no problem dropping down when you fold up the bed.

We travel with 2 cats who found the space behind the headboard. To keep them out, we have two pieces of foam that we use to fill the space. Would your 12 inch headboard fill the gap enough to keep the cats from getting down in that space?

I haven't noticed any damage to our floor, but I am going to check it.

Yes it would keep them out

We didn't have an issue yet, but thanks to your post I took some precautionary measures this weekend. I removed the little rubber bumpers. I had some rubber matting laying in my basement that is about 1/4-3/8" thick. The bottom of the legs are sort of T shaped. I laid the rubber under the feet, traced around it, cut it and used adhesive to attach it to the bottom of the legs. Hopefully this will help.
Thanks for posting the heads up.

Based on this thread, I removed the 1 inch diameter feet last weekend and cut a piece of sticky back felt to cover the entire bottom of the leg. That spreads the weight from about 0.75 sq inches to about 4 square inches. (Most folks don't realize it, but a 1 inch diameter circle is only about 0.75 sq inches in area.) That will drop the "lbs/sq ft" load on the floor by over a factor of 5.3; or thought of equivalently, it will drop the load on the floor to less than 20% of what it was with the 1 inch diameter foot.

I left the new 3" feet. And added sticky back felt it's the same height as the feet. It should have the same affect to spread the weight out. I'll post a picture later. There are large storms here this weekend so we didn't use the trailer. Hope we will next weekend.

If they're 3" in diameter, then your foot area is now about 7 sq inches, so your load on the floor should be about 1/10th (0.75"/7")what it was with the 1 inch diameter foot.

Get some linoleum patching material and fill the hole with epoxy. Next time put something under the bed feet to distribute the weight better.

No need for patching material and epoxy. Looks like the Forest River and the dealer took care of it.

Forest River has done this for me already With the changes they made with larger feet and me adding thick felt to the rest of the foot to spread the weight out. This shouldn't happen again.

A 3" memory foam topper that was a bit long solved the pillow issues. As for the the floor issue we got a chunk of carpet with the trailer cut it in half and place em on the floor when the beds down
