2018 WJ Stereo Issues

Any ideas/suggestions?
My FM stereo is all primarily "static", like the AM side. 2 very local stations, one, I can't get at all, which is the most dominant for 100 miles around, and the other, a real faint sound of the radio broadcast, and full of static.
So, obviously, the connection is there.

Sounds like it could be an antenna issue. Even though the iRV systems are not the greatest, I can still listen to local radio stations if I were in my vehicle. Might start om the roof at the antenna and work your way back to the receiver. Could be a wire issue. Good luck.

I would pull out the receiver and check the connections on the back. The antenna cable may not be plugged in tightly. Then go up on the roof to inspect the antenna.

I've been on the roof, and the antenna is well sealed, so a strikeout there. Then to the receiver, and I cannot figure how to get it out of the cabinet. No screws, so I guess some sort of internal clips. Afraid to apply too much pressure, for fear of damaging it or the cabinet.

There is a plastic trim, or beauty ring around your receiver. Pry that off and you'll find your screws. But be careful; don't break it.

Bob is correct. If you have the iRV receiver, look around the sides near the panel surface and you will see where to put a flat blade screwdriver to pop off the cover. Be gentle. Underneath you will see 4 screws holding receiver to the panel.

On my iRV unit, the amount of static on the radio AM band is directly proportional to the number of LED lights that are on. Also, the WFCO converter contributes a significant amount of interfering noise on the DC circuits. You might want to see if your source of static is similar to my problem. I haven't developed a good trash filter, yet.

Good advise on pulling out radio. I installed our radio last year and don't have FM reception. There are dozens of wires back there. Any idea what color or size the antenna wire is? I thought I had everything pulled in since tv snd DVD all play. If the O P fixes their FM reception please post how. Thanks!

MCTroy -- The antenna wire is black coaxial cable, much bigger than the rest of the wires. It has a single pin push-in connector on the end. The FM reception is OK and it does a good job pulling in strong stations. It is quite noisy on weak stations. The AM reception is lousy, pulling in only very strong stations. There is a lot of static and noise, probably created by the lights and converter.

Is anyone having problems reading the LED readout on the IRV31 Radio in the Mini Lites, my wife and I can not see them as they are very dim?

well having had a similar problem on a new trailer, it was believed that the wrong antennae was placed on the unit. It is also believed that the manufacture, corrected the problem by slicing the correct wire in which did not hold. The solution, I forfeited the AM stations altogether, and using an FM splitter and coax cable, split the signal from the TV (wingard) antennae with the radio. It works fine now, but again no AM stations. Good Luck!

On my 2016 3029W the TV antenna is on the roof, but the radio antenna is just outside the door on the wall. Little lift up & extend thing, like on a portable radio.

Rveenut, thank you. I remember that black cable. I will check to be sure I have it pushed all the way in.

Just a quick update -- the FM Radio works! I pulled the black cable out as it was plugged into the wrong spot. Moved that and now the radio plays great and all is good.

Thank you for the help!
