I also have an early 2018 2104s and I agree with Trigger1.

On our 2017 2304KS the bed must be up before pulling in the slide out.

2104s Murphy Bed

I have a 2019 and the bed cannot come down with the slide in.

The slide out is a bit longer now with the addition of a closet on the end by the bed.

abehil - I have not noticed the foot of the bed being bouncy. does not tip down for sure and we do sit on the foot quite a bit.

Also noted when out this weekend (sorry I failed to get pic) the slide does come right up against the end of my L-shaped counter when slide is closed. It is the bench seats/storage that meets the counter end. However, if the bench seats were removed there would be 4" that the front wall slide extends beyond the counter and one could sliver thu with slide closed. If slide were opened just 4-5" it would make it a much easier passthru. With dinette benches you actually have to step over counter end and on to the dinette bench to get thru.

Camper Improved!

If you’re thinking about replacing the dinette a reclining loveseat is a great option! It’s super comfortable, the best upgrade for us! Thanks to Tigger1 for posting the great pictures!

Abehil, we have a 2015 Forest River Flagstaff, 2508KS and we cannot leave the bed down. We also cannot get to the restroom if the slide is in. Jack

Murphy Bed

I have a 17' 2104s and the bed will come down with the slide in with a couple of inches to spare. However you can't get to the fridge and the bathroom is a tight squeeze!

If you would rather not deal with a MB, I would suggest you try another layout. If you want to maximize space in a small footprint, it's hard to beat the 21DS/2104S.
The 2104S or 21DS are identical to each other. We just bought a 21FBRS last year over the 21DS for two main reasons. There is not enough storage in the 21DS and when the slide is closed you can't get to the refrigerator. Other than that it is my favorite camper. I tried and tried to justify getting the 21DS but after weighing the two reasons listed above we decided to go with the 21FBRS. We are really happy the purchase that we made.

just to be clear - NOT in the 2019 1/2 version of 2104s - - - they added a (very nice) pantry on right side of slide out so bed does NOT fit when slide is in.

Murphy bed and slide

Yes, on our 2016 2304 KS, because of the pantry, the slide must be out Before the bed can be opened. An acceptable trade off for us, as the bed isn’t open when we’re traveling.

Different model but my 2018 230bhxl is totally able to leave the Murphy bed down with the slide in.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way. I stayed in it during some severe snow storms last winter and didn’t want the snow on the slide. With the slide in on this model you can access every feature of the unit but the TV., and radio.

YES - Murphy Bed can be down with slide closed on 2104S

Hi, we have a spring 2019 2104s and YES, the Murphy Bed can be down with the slide closed, in fact there is room to spare to walk along that side.

The Fall model has a cabinet on the edge of the slide/dinette, so later 2019 models might no longer have that ability, but I am glad that we do! (and the extra window that they took away to add that cabinet. Much happier having a window )
