2306 owners
Looking for any reviews from people who have purchased a 2306. We are looking to buy and have read and watched videos but want to hear from people who have owned one. Thank you

2306 owner here, and very pleased. Do you have specific questions? If not, try typing "2306" into the search bar at the top of the page and you'll likely get more information than you can digest in one sitting.

Thank, you! We are a family 4 and we are downsizing from a Starcraft AR One widebody to a rockwood. From what we have read and watched it's a pretty good camper. Did you upgrade your mattress? We want to put a topper on but didn't know with the Murphy bed well that works. It's little things I think I'll have questions about...lol

I have a 2016 2306 and we have not going out with it yet. Pending our 1st trip on it. So far for what I see seems to be well made. Very impressed with the construction and the cabinet quality. Just replace the door lock for some nicer. I got one with a remote and electric key pad with a regular key. The door is filled with foam, walls and roof, floor is padded with some insulation foam. Also noticed the bottom of the camper has foam as insulation.
I read about the thermostat that is not as good as the digital ones. Bought a digital one.
Perhaps sometime this week will take it for a spin by the lake to try it out.

We put a topper on the mattress. It's pretty rough without one! We used a 4" topper and the bed still closes fine. You will have to put a little pressure on the foot of the bed to get the latched to close, but we've been using it for almost a year like this.
I would also recommend the digital thermostat - MUCH better than the original. X-Chocks are also very handy. And I swapped all the locks on the storage compartment doors to match the entry door so I only have one key. Cheap and convenient mod.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

We have been pleased with our 2306. The thermostat location is our only complaint. Its on the wall that can become warm by the fridge. Making the thermostat read 3 to 6 degree warmer than the room is and it will kick your ac unit on and off way to often. It was fixed by placing 2in foam block behind the thermostat to bring away from the wall. The floor has gotten a few squeaks in it now near the aluminum frame of the dinnette storage and tough to figure out. Over all good little travel trailer and we are happy

Interesting... while changing the thermostat the wall has foam on the back. Is a very tight fit. However, will get a block of dense foam and mount it on it. Thanks for the tip.
X Chocks, got them on Amazon along with the Socket for the Cordless Drill. I can see is not fun to raise and lower the jacks.

We sold our old camper with everything in it so we are starting all over in buying stuff for our new one. Anything special we should buy for the 2306 besides maybe new locks and the digital thermometer? Does the rockwood come with magnetic latch or is it plastic on the outside doors?

We have the sister trailer to the 2306, flagstaffs 23lb. We really enjoy it. This will be our 4th season. My only complaint is that the trailer sits low and I've had trouble dumping my sewer at some sites when the drain is higher than my tanks. So I've had to throw a couple extra boards under the tires to raise the trailer. I have 13 inch tires so the new trailers might have 14 inch tires now. That has really been our only issue other than going bigger. We don't have the Murphy bed.

The cargo doors are held open by a spring loaded plastic latch. Would be nicer a magnetic catch.
By the way... what are the sizes for the cargo locks? Forgot to measure them last time I was at the TT. If I am not mistaken, the Outside Shower nozzle door is shorter than the rest. Will like to order new locks, hate the idea of the universal stuff. Will save me a trip and pull one out to see how big are the barrels.

DisDad - I've had the same problem with dumping the tanks if the sewer connection at the CG is too high. I've always been able to manage to get the tanks empty by either moving the camper forward or back a few feet, or stopping by the dump station on the way out. Now that I know it can be an issue, I remember to compare the height of my sewer outlet with the inlet at the site when I'm parking.

The lock sizes are listed in a thread somewhere because I used them when I ordered my replacement locks. And yes - all are the same except the outside shower.

I cannot remember but there is a post on a thread that shows how to install a heating element in the Air Conditioner. Seems like a great idea for heating to safe Propane when having shore power availabe. The advantage there is no need for a space heater and the disadvantages associated with it.
To me is about energy choices.

A heat strip on the air conditioning unit does not provide very much heat. Would not take the place of a space heater or a furnace. Basically just takes the chill off.

We love our 2306. A lot of folks have issues with too small of a tow vehicle to pull it and end up having to get a bigger truck, but since you are downsizing hopefully that is not an issue.
Another issue we had that showed up in some other models is using the heater while on battery power at elevation. The batteries dont get the fan blowing fast enough to trip the sail switch so the heater senses a problem and shuts down. Our fix was to remove the louvered circular vent covers. This allows enough air to move to trip the sail switch. It works fine with the covers on shore power.

Good to know... I was considering the heating element modification and also thanks for the info on the sail switch.

Plus, with the heat strip your heat will be coming from the ceiling, and warm air rises, and not much of it, well you get the idea...
