2503s TV and Radio location

We went camping earlier this week and while the outside temperature was 105 on Monday and Tuesday I got a chance to enjoy the air conditioner and television.

One problem... the radio what has the surround sound volume control in it is on the inside to of the outside wall and the TV is on the wall 90 degrees to the outside wall. From the couch, I could change channels on the TV but couldn't change volume on the surround sound. I think this is a problem.

I have also found this to be a problem in our 2503S. The remote is too small also and is very hard to read and impossible to use in low light.

I am working on a solution to the placement and will post when I come up with a workable one. I agree with you on the small remote. Guess designers don't use the product.

Frustrated

I was playing around with several designs of a cabinet to mount the radio in but, decided it would be easier to find a "ir antenna". It could be mounted under the TV in such a manner that that the radio remote could see it, thus controlling the surround sound.
The problem I have is that when sitting on the couch I cannot control the radio, tv surround sound with the remote. I can control the TV fine.
Guess that is one of Forrest River's better designs.
Time will tell.

I haven't noticed a problem in my 2503S, but have to admit I haven't had a chance to use the TV a lot.

Have you thought of a small mirror (cosmetic type?) behind the tv that would bounce the IR signal to the radio? Basically, you're just bouncing light around. Alternatively, try aiming the remote at the cabinets above the stove/sink and see if that works. I know at home, I can bounce the signal off the ceiling. Of course, my home ceiling is white and the camper cabinets are dark, so may not bounce light as well.

I solved the problem by trading it for a Surveyor 285IKDS. More room with 39 inch Jensen TV with sound bar and surround sound. The outside kitchen is the icing on the cake.

I have the same camper (25KS).

I deal with this issue by:
1. extending my arm full length with remote toward the kitchen aimed at the stereo
or
2. standing up to change volume/station
or
3. reminding myself I'm camping!

I've found I can't put foam on all of life's sharp corners . . .
