2504s order or buy one on the lot?

I'm torn on what to do. Love the floor plan...dealer has one on the lot price is good, only thing I would change if I ordered is upgrade the AC from the 13.5 to the 15. Not sure how necessary that would be but being in Florida I figure more can't hurt. Also the interior have 2 kids not sure if I will prefer the cloth couch or "leather appearing" couch. Opinions welcome.

I had the 13.5 a/c in my 2306 Mini Lite and it was more than enough. I pick up my Ultra Lite 2905ss on Monday and it has the 13.5 as well. I kinda wish it had the 15k upgrade since it's 10 feet longer than my Mini Lite was, but I wanted this one that was on the lot. If you found the trailer that you like and it's in stock then I wouldn't let the 13.5 a/c keep me from getting it.

While in college in FL I spent 1 summer in a mobile home & like most TTs it was difficult to keep cool... Therefore I recommend the 15 A/C combined with a good MaxxAir fan, etc. that can run on 12V while you are traveling in the afternoon heat. When you arrive at your destination, the inside won't be hotter than the outdoor temps & your 15 A/C can reach comfy temps sooner.

Advantages of buying off the lot.
You can see exactly what you are buying. Specs change and a new one may have different equipment. You won't have delivery damage surprises that can delay picking it up. You get to enjoy all of 2015 camping season

Disadvantages You may not get exactly what you want.

Negotiate. Replacing an AC is not difficult or expensive. Ask dealer to upgrade as part of the deal and take the one on the lot. A new Duo Therm Brisk Air II 15K can be had for $600-$700 without trade in.

Get the 15K - it is significantly more effective in hot humid climates. Another consideration, some 13.5K units will run on a single 2K watt generator (e.g., Honda or Yamaha). The 15K unit will likely need a larger wattage genset (3K or more).

When I bought my hybrid I had them change the 13.5 to a 15 K. The dealer said it wasn't necessary but I insisted. Now they all have the 15K here in Georgia as standard equipment. In Florida I would absolutely go for the upgrade.

As an ex-air conditioning mechanic, let me chime in.
Sometimes larger is actually worse. Here's why...
When you have a large evaporator (the cool side coil), it tends to satisfy the thermostat sooner. But when it does, it doesn't run the fan long enough to remove humidity from the air. This has the effect of making the interior air feel cool and clammy, because there is still moisture in the air. It feels clammy because your skin doesn't evaporate your sweat as effectively as when you are in dry air.
A smaller AC running at longer cycle times can actually make you feel cooler because it has time to remove water from the air, making the interior humidity lower. Large units that are oversized for the load WILL keep the air cool, but won't necessarily keep YOU cool and comfortable.
There are excellent references for how this all works, but the most important thing is how well your camper is insulated. If poor insulation, the you most certainly will want the larger unit, because it will keep up with the extra load caused by poor insulation. And if it runs all the time, then it will also remove moisture. But if insulation is good, a smaller unit would be preferable, provided it is sized right for the cubic feet of the camper's interior.

Dealer upgraded mine as part of the deal at no cost, did not take long.for the change out. Used the ole how much area you gain with slides out. Also means more to space to cool down when we travel to LA. Beat waiting weeks to order on. In fourth year of new unit without any av issues.

Thanks for the advise....looks like they have one on order that we can hopefully add the 15k btu AC to...not have to wait the full 8-12,weeks for....plus it should be a 2016.
