I have the Flagstaff 2017 26rbws which is the same as the Rockwood 2606ws. I made a few mods. Changed out the Coleman's thermostat for a Lux brand digital thermostat. Mounted plastic battery box to rear bumper to put black water hose parts in. Added blackout curtains in bed room. Put camco vent cover over front vent. I have a few mods I will be doing in the spring. Adding shelves to the front wardrobe slide, add a hardwire surge voltage protector and remove water filter and use portable in line camco filter.

I added piano hinges to the wardrobe doors. It makes it easier to get into the wardrobe. Try the link below for pictures.

mrpsyko, love the ideas. Especially the black out curtains. We are permanently setting it up and the black outs will be great in the bedroom. Historically I used the mylar bubble wrap to really offer some darkening and heat protection. Thinking the black outs might be better. How hard was the thermostat change? We don't need the battery box adaptation but may put the front box in the basement. Don't want to leave it outside where it can disappear. I am also dumping the water filter for an outside filter. Did you mount a tv in the bedroom? If so can you show me how you figured out how to mount it?

Andy, what did the piano hinge do for the door? Allows it to fold completely back?

Thanks for the ideas guys. Can't wait for the rig to be finished. Scott

I have not added a TV to the bed room. Probably will not put one there but it has the backer board marked for mounting tv. The thermostat was not hard to install. The digital ones have less dead band. Look on you tube and forum for hook ups.

Yeah, the two doors in the middle seem to be in the way when getting in and out of the wardrobe. If it wasn’t so close to the bed it wouldn’t matter as much. When the doors are open, they are touching the bed. Like I said in the other thread, you really only need to do one side. I can take a picture tomorrow if you would like to see it. The picture in the other thread only shows one side open.

I also added a extended grab handle at the entry door to help my wife get in and out. Next project is a wireless backup camera on the back of trailer.

The camera is on my list too. The ladder on the back got to meet the gutter on the garage last summer. The ladder was replaced. The gutter is still waiting.

thanks guys. Since we fairly stationary I have a set of fiberglass stairs, will be using those so no need for the longer door handle. I am setting up a outdoor kitchen where the grill station goes to make use of the gas connection. Will get a converter to go from trailer to the grill. Also will be making a PVC sewer drain system that is removable. Has to be off for hurricane season. Would love to add the permanently mounted surge protector, have to do more research to see if that is in my wheel house. I would like to see the additional cabinet photo if you have it. Was the piano hinge a tough add or just unscrew the door and attach the new hinge. can't wait to get started on some of these activities. Hoping the new rig comes with the SS sink, overhead cabinet change as well.

Not too bad. I just removed the doors from the hinges on the center post. I left the hinges on the post so I wouldn’t have screw holes showing and I left all of the latching hardware in place. The hardest part was holding the two doors together until I got a couple of screws started. Now that I think about it, it would probably be a lot easier to take both doors off and lay them flat to install the hinge. There are a lot of screws and I used them all. I drilled pilot holes for the screws. I got the hinges from Lowe’s. I think they were 48” long and I cut them.

Again, now that I think about it, I don’t think it has to be a piano hinge. Just about any small hinges should work as long as you get them lined up right.

Hey Mrpsyko, how did you attach the rods to the wall for the black out curtains. I think we would really like to do this. Being in southern Florida, especially in the summer it could help insulate as well as keep it dark.

Hello Mrpsyko - I'm looking at the Rockwood 2606WS and we really love the floor plan and WS. I have a 2016 F-150 SCREW with 1632lbs of payload. My concern is the payload because the Rockwood and Flagstaff have a much heavier tongue weight compared to similar layouts in other brands. I'm not concerned about the pulling power but more of the tongue weight when loaded. How has been your experience pulling, sag, and have you taken it too the CAT scale for an official tongue? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I have to get something on order soon as I have camping trips planned.

Before I was rear ended and my trailer was totaled I had a 2016 Jayco 25BHS White Hawk. The weight was 6880 loaded with a tongue weight of 960lbs. This seems to be pretty comparable but the Rockwood brochure says it comes in dry at 864lbs which is typically much less than when delivered.

Thanks!

2626ws WEIGHT

Dropnaduece,
I have not weighted my trailer but have had no issues towing it, I am using a 1200lb WDH with sway bar. And the truck is level when attached to trailer. The longest we towed was 500 miles to Gulf Shores then to another 500 miles to Chattanooga and it towed without any problem. I have a 2014 F150 SCREW with 5.0 and tow package.

2606ws mods

Added shelves to storage area behind tv and both upper kitchen cupboards. Biggest mod was a entry closet my retired cabinet maker friend did in place of three hooks near entry to bathroom. Used two doors from fr same size as lower door below sink..turned out beautifully
