2703ws Rim Replacement

I have a 2015 2703ws with 14" tires which does not give me many options on going to a high speed rating or ply. Has anyone replaced their 14" rims with 15's and successfully used 15" tires on the 2703?

I was pondering doing this for the very same reason but not having luck finding any info on it. Came across your Dec post and wondered what you ever decided to do. We have the same year and model Rockwood as you do.

While I didn't have the same trailer as you, I did change out my 14" wheels and tires, for 15" on an older Outback. The 14's had C rated tires and I was able to get 15" D rated with almost the same diameter as the 14's. Improved pulling dramatically and gained just over 1 mpg pulling it.

Sorry guy's just noticed this. I spoke with the Forest River Warranty department and was told that i could change to a 15" tire and rim as long as it's a load range C 6 ply. i am not sure why that matters. Forest River has upgraded the Dexter 3500# axles to 4000# on the 2016 model. Not sure if a D rated 8 ply tire would put too much stress on the 3500# flex axles. I have not done anything at this point but getting ready for a trip in mid march to Washington DC needless to say i am a little concerned about this.

Not sure I understand why you think a higher rated tire would increase the stress on the axle. Stress on the axle is mainly from the weight of the trailer.

I have ask them for clarification. Doesn't make sense to me either but he did say class C 6 ply was as high as i can go without voiding the warranty. I will update when i hear back from them.

When I did mine on my last trailer, I just did it myself. I just shopped online for the best price and lots of rim and tire choices. The new wheels were shipped with the new tires mounted and balanced free.
Then i just changed the wheels and sold the old ones on craigs list.

I only had a single axle trailer so I only had to order 3 new wheels and tires, but I would do it again with two axles if I needed to. Online had so many aluminum rim and tire choices for cheaper than a local shop had.
