2906 WS Weight from scales

Went to a Cat scale, truck on one pad and trailer on another. The two, weights were
7260 and 7240. 7240 was trailer. The total was 14500. This was with trailer connected. Today I went and weighed truck by itself. Weighed 6050. It is a half ton Dodge Ram Will subtracting the 6050 from the 14500 give accurate weight?
Or is only way to put trailer on scales and disconnect from truck. Dry weight of trailer posted on side is 7100 if factory got it correct

If the truck with the 5er hook up weights 7260 lbs you are probably over you Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings of 6900lbs by about 360lbs so any passengers or stuff you put in your truck is going add to the over weight condition and a percentage of every you add forward of the 5er wheels is going to trucks over weight condition..

I would bring to CAT scale where you can three weights - the trucks front and truck real axle weights and the 5er axle weights. The reason I recommend you doing this is very likely you may have also exceeded you max rear axle weights and my ever you max tire weight ratings. Safety first with comes to putting your love ones in the truck.

Are you sure the numbers are correct? You are still over the GVWR of truck which find hard to believe with 7400 lbs TT unless the Yellow Sticker on you Door Jam is really low. I would verify on another scales and get front and rear axle weights.

It would be better if you had weighted trailer and truck as in link below to get proper info...

Except for not being sure how much excess was on front axle vs rear, your original logic was not bad. What is the gross vw for you truck and for your gcvw.

Seems the truck alone weight deducted from you first two weights would be the trailer.

Still you do need to know rear axle with the TT on and look at tire load. Remember air bags and overLoads help handling and ride but do not increase gross load rating

I read that as 8450 trailer is about 1180 pounds on the ball
If the truck was 7240 how close to gross does that put it
Or how far over grove said that put it?

Something for sure isn't adding up, your approaching 20% tongue weight which is extremely heavy for a TT and definitely over the hitch ratings of a class III hitch.

Tongue weight is 14%. Still maybe over your receiver rating though.
