So I would note that Forest River offers two versions of the R-Pod. The standard version uses 14" tires. The "West Coast" version adds a lift kit and 15" off road tires. Apparently somebody figured that we have more folks taking a trailer off road behind a 4x4 out here on the left coast.

I know this is not an R-Pod but this really sounds like a partial off road option with the 15" tires and missed lift kit. This idea is supported by the factory solution is to put in the lift kit that they think should have been there.

Another update....so the factory dropped the ball and did not ship the parts the day they were supposed to! I ripped'em a new one and the parts were over nighted yesterday for arrival today.
Stay tuned for the continuing saga......it should be done today (fingers crossed).

Final update!!! Finally the trailer is fixed. Now it has great clearance. But before I could tow it out of the dealer I noticed a bulge in the side wall of one of my truck tires.....so I had to put the spare on. If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all.
Thanks for all the comments guys!!!

Speaking of tires, I guess the dealer also replaced the damaged tire on the camper? Too bad about the truck tire but glad you got the camper straightened out at least!!

Hmmm... we've had our 2016 2604ws since late August, didn't notice any clearance issues. I think we've towed it about 400 miles so far.

OP, any chance you could take a pic of the lift that they added? Just curious if mine came with it installed... I'm not well versed enough to know what it is without a pic. I did notice some "blocking" between the axles and the frame rails, is that what they added to yours?

John,

That blocking you see is actually a subframe and normal for the 2604WS. It spreads out the load from the axles into the frame.

The standard wheel/tire package on the 2604WS is a 205/75R14. Roaddiva somehow had 15" wheel/tire package on her 2604WS. This size wheel/tire package can work, but only with a lift kit. Roaddiva send me a picture and the lift kit appears to be mostly steel plates that attach between the axle mounts and frame mounts. You will see some large bolts in there, 2 per axle? Those change to 4 with the lift kit.

So for you to have the lift kit you will have 15" wheel/tires and 4 big bolts attaching the axles to the frame. Pretty obvious when you look.

Thanks, Steve, I'll have to look when I get home -- I have 15" wheels.

Sounds like the reason that an issue was not noticed at dealer as the trailer was hauled on a trailer to the dealer. Have seen a lot of them transported this way. Later RJD

UPDATE!!!

I have an update to this situation......

This happened 4 years ago.....I just got this in the mail yesterday....

This is the exact issue I had and is what this thread was about. Can't believe it took 4 yrs for a recall to come out!!

I just recently sold the trailer and moved to a Jayco.

Very interesting... those recall wheels turn very slowly.

I have not gotten such a letter which means either they have not gotten to me or my trailer really is a 2015 as I have always suspected (sold/registered as a 2016).

I have obtained a lift kit on my own but have yet to install it. I am looking for a bit more clearance out back so maybe I stop dragging the steps. So far I have bent them this way and then back that way about 4 times.

Any qualitative comparisons (this issue aside) between Jayco and Rockwood?

Only have my Jayco about a month now and I honestly have to say it feels like it is better built then my Rockwood was. I love the options and the floor plan. I ordered through RV Direct and saved at least $10k from what a dealer would have charged.
So far I am loving it!

So I wrote to FR and asked what causes this issue stated in the recall notice because my trailer came out of the factory this way. They wrote back and said send your VIN number so we can see what the recall is on your trailer. I had already sent them the recall notice number. I replied with a picture of the recall notice saying, here is the notice with my model number on it, I just want to know what causes the issue.
All I'm hearing now is crickets......things that make you say....hmm....!!

They want your VIN to verify that the recall actually covers the year/make/model you have. Just saying you have the model is not adequate.

I just want to know what causes the problem!! That's it!
They sent me the notice saying what could happen. I just want to know what would cause it to happen.

The letter you posted says the slideout actuator was installed too close to the tire. Not sure what else you need to know.
