Question 310 lbs man on roof: is it safe??

After reading the manual for our 2014 Rockwood Windjammer, were still not sure if the roof will handle my 310 lbs husband who wants to go up and inspect up there.... What do you think??

My ladder says 250# load limit. It may state the weight limit on your ladder like mine does, but I'm sure that's just the weight limit of the ladder not the roof itself. Call the dealer and ask or the factory would be better because dealers are air heads.

If he wears (Padded Snow Shoes)! Also (I) would NOT use the Rear Ladder! Even a (Industrial Rated Ladder) are sometimes Only rated at (300#)! Be Safe Not Sorry! Youroo!!

I was told 400 lbs when we picked up our trailer. I recall the comment because the guys said it was funny considering that the ladder would only support about 325 lbs....

At one of my plant tours I saw 2-3 workers all over the roof even installing A/Cs. If they install a ladder then it should be strong enough to walk on. Just don't bring the gang up with lawn chairs to watch the NASCAR race.

I have seen at nascar 5 top 6 people on top of there rv's watching the races using chairs. He should be fine just walk slow. As for the ladder I have a 16, 18, and 24 foot contractor extention ladders and they say 250# on them. I think it is just a industry standard by lawyers to protect them selfs.

Not quite to 310 yet but if DW doesn't slow down on the groceries I will. I walk on mine all the time. Carefully for sure. The greater concern for me is the sudden stop below. Just take it slow and if feels any give that would be an indicator that it might not be such a great idea.

I would be more worried about a heart attack from the stress of pulling 310 # up the ladder.

I put an extension ladder up the side of my 5th wheel when I have to get on the roof. Mainly because I don't like going STRAIGHT UP on that rear ladder and also the ground slopes off some from the rear of our rig, and going up the side is better and more stable.

My bigger concern is what happens if the 310 lbs hits the ground! (I know I have a healthy concern for my 240 lbs!!)

Be careful!

Don't care how much I weigh, I'm not getting up there. Petrified of heights. Gladly let the RV service center guy get up on the roof a couple times a year to inspect it.

I can inspect it from very tall step ladder. Best bet is to make friends with local service center if you are unsure about getting up there. Other alternative is have son in law do it. LOL That works until he stirs up wasp nest in front air conditioner and he is on the wrong side of AC from ladder. That tall step ladder came in handy and a can of wasp and hornet spray.

I'm 300+ and I've been on all of my RVs in the past. My Wildcat has been the best because it has curved trusses on 16". Now the 11'+ roof heights keeps old me off the RVs.

I weigh about 320 and had to get on the roof of our old RV, a 2006 Class A. I did so, hesitantly, but I did not walk on it - I laid down and crawled across it on all fours or scooted. You'll get filthy, but it spreads the load out enough you don't need to worry about it. If you need to work up there a lot, I would drag a sheet of plywood up and lay on it to further spread the weight out. So far as the ladder goes, ?i personally would not trust it. The rating U.S. based on what the ladder will hold but has nothing to do with the #8 wood screws into the 1/2" plywood blocking that it's most likely mounted to the RV with.
