5th wheel tri pod

Do most of you use the tri pod support for the front of your 5th wheel? The dealer recommended one, but we decided to wait and see what others are doing.

It's "OK"

A better solution is to have the dealer install a set of Lippert JT Strongarms. They are more costly but the stability they offer is amazing!

http://lci1.com/jt-strong-arm

JT's and a set of X-Chocks and the only way you can get a more stable coach would be to install a hydraulic leveling system (for several thousand dollars)

http://www.amazon.com/X-Chock-Wheel-.../dp/B002XLHUQG

(you need 2 - one for each side of your rig)

I used to haul around that boat anchor of a tripod until I installed JT's. Waaayyyyy better stabilization and don't have to horse around with the tripod anymore. JT's are more expensive, but easy to install and not having to lug around the tripod ... priceless.

I would guess most of us DON'T use a kingpin tripod. I use JT's Strong Arm stabilizers.

No, don't use either. I don't want to carry the king pin tripod and we do not think the movement in the RV is that noticeable. Of course it is just the two of us old folks who don't run around much😄

Tripod definitely helps. I store in truck bed behind tailgate. Get a good one.

Other discussions I've read, as well as our experience, have ultralight owners noticing the most stability improvement.

I would say if just 2 people then not needed, but with 4 kids moving around then it really helps among other things

I use the tripod, & it does help. I agree with the other comments that is heavy, & don't use it for just an overnight stop. Wasn't aware of the JT's when I purchased the tripod, or probably would have went that route.

Don't get a tripod, you will hate it. They are heavy, take a too long to set up and really don't help the back end. Instead of JT's, I have SteadyFast: 5th Wheel and RV Trailer Stabilizer. I am steady in 45 seconds. My neighbor and I installed mine in about an hour. WORKS GREAT! I love sitting around with a beer watching guys set up their tripods.

We agree with not using the tripod. We mounted the Winfield Crossbraces, together with X-Chocks & are very happy with our fifth's stability. www.Winfieldrvproducts.com

Are these the cargo lock bars from harbor freight?

Wasted of money n my case

Bought a tripod when I had a 30' Sundance, no improvement. My Brookstone has a Trailair hitch which makes the tripod useless so it is now surplus. Wanted to sell it on Craigslist but they are down to $50 locally so I'm stuck unless I decide to give it away.

X2. I do the same set up and very happy. Makes a huge difference in movement.
