8281SS Tail Lights

Replaced the left side today with a LED set. I was not able to locate an original one anywhere, couldn't even find a picture of it on the internet....so I bought a set of LEDs which happen to mount completely different.

Problem: Right side light has a cover on the inside that is disguised as a nightstand or something, but I cannot find a way to remove it. I must remove it to be able to change the right side tail light (because I must secure the nut on the inside) but I see no visible way of doing so without destroying it.

Have any of you been able to remove this thing without destroying it?

My tail light bulbs are rusted into the sockets. I have not changed mine out with the new ones yet. I got them from www.eTrailer.com

Trailer Lights | etrailer.com

I am lucky in that I can work through the drawer openings in the rear entertainment cabinets, but I am going to have to lose a few pounds to get in there. Ah, motivation. That's what i need!

Our 831RLSS had a corner cabinet on both sides for the taillights I got into the corner by carefully prying the corner molding out and sliding a putty knife under the plywood and prying the plywood & molding loose. It is only held in place with staples and can be replaced using staples.

Thanks, I'll try prying it out with ease.
