8288 tow vehicle

I was wondering what type tow vehicles are being used to pull the 8288. The 2007 is 7026 lbs tow weight and 8400 GVWR. Which is within a 1/2 ton specs but with a 1500lb pin weight it is maxed out on payload. So if you use a 1/2 ton what type and what are your real life experiences doing it.

Tons of discussion about this topic abounding on the forums. I have towed a similar trailer with both an Ecoboost 150 and now have a 6.2 SD 250. We didn't have any issues with the F-150, but I feel we really did it right with F-250 with the 5th wheel prep pkg. The prep package really makes things easy. I can sum it up with an impression like this: the F-150 seemed to make suggestions to trailer which were mostly granted well. The F-250 shows the trailer who's boss. If you're planning on any long trips I would not suggest a 1/2 ton. Just my "real world" advice, you will find many others might disagree.

That is kind of the direction I have been thinking. Able to do it but the trailer was an equal match in a fight. I currently have a 2500 hd with the 8.1L and Allison tranny. But I was thinking the new aluminum F150 would be better on gas. We do plan on taking some long trips 1200 to1500 miles each way along with some closer trips. Guess I should stay with the 3/4 ton maybe a smaller engine. Thanks for your real life advise that's the best to have. Nothing better than to talk to somebody who have lived the dream.
