8289 Cabinets

Not sure what the cabinets and other wood is coated with but I can't get the 3M command strips to stick to them, can't get anything to stick to them. Cleaned the area with alcohol with no luck getting the command strips to stick. Has anybody else had this problem and / or a solution to the problem.

We have the 8528 (Flagstaff) which I think is the sister to your unit, with hickory finish cabinets. We've had no problems with command tape (hung a cross between the doors on overhead cabinets across the rear). Maybe you got a bad package of Command product?

Could be a bad batch of command strips but I also tried a piece of scotch tape and a piece of duct tape, they wouldn't stick enough to hold a piece of paper. Going to try cleaning a small spot inside one of the doors with a dab of lacquer thinner. The command strips that I have work great on the other wall surfaces.

The cabinets in our Rockwood are probably similar to yours. They're particle board covered with Contact paper type stuff to mimic woodgrain. This stuff does have some texture to it, so I'm not sure how good command adhesive will stick to it.
