8289ws suburban furnace

Hi I've got a 2015 8289ws and the furnace takes a very longtime to warm the coach and also seems to use a lot of lpg, is this right or is there a problem. The furnace in my 2011 Elkridge Express was much better. Can anyone help please.
Many thanks

You may have a duct disconnected somewhere.

You should check air flow at each register to make sure it is about the same air flow. You can tape a narrow long piece to the register plate to visually observe the volume of flow.

Any register that has less air (or no air) is suspect and the break or tear needs to be located and fixed.

We have a smaller Rockwood 5'er, and it does take a bit of time to heat the entire rig. Remember the furniture and mattress are really cold and will take time to come up to warm up as well. Also, if I remember correctly, the Elkhart's ceilings are a bit lower than your new rig.

Our's does use a lot of LP, so we now have two small electric heat cubes that we use as our primary heat source. One up top and one near the door.

8289ws suburban furnace

When you hook up to electricity small heaters make a huge difference. I know that when it gets really cold you are going to need the furnace but our one small Lasko heater pretty much takes care of living and bathroom down into the mid 40's. (We like the bedroom cool for sleeping) Again though, you are heating a lot more space than I am but ours is still 32 foot just with lower ceilings. And, I have found the LP usage to be acceptable so far. We like or little Lasko heater so much that I asked my wife if she wanted another for the bedroom and the answer is no.

Only problem we have is that we have to be careful what all we run off of electricity since we have 30 amp service. It isn't too bad though. I can run heater, coffee pot and furnace at the same time. Just can't run microwave and/or hair dryer when everything else is running. We ordered ours and I regret not getting 50 amp service. As someone else on the forum suggested, thinking about a separate 110 outlet into the trailer just for such occasions.

Do check your ducts though.

If the park service is 30A an additional extension from the pedestal into the camper will not help as now you will exceed the pedestal capacity and trip the park breaker. Most parks have a second breaker at or near the main power source so even though you may have a 30A and 15A breaker in your pedestal, you may still only have 30A service. If you trip the primary breaker, you may need to find a park employee to reset it as it may be in a secured area.

I had a similar problem (8285WS) The heater output exits into the floor into a metal can that has the ducting attached. The metal can was poorly attached and had dropped a couple of inches. Part of the hot air was blowing underneath the trailer.

Remove the furnace cover and look. I repostiioned the metal can and fastened securely. Made a big difference. It could also be a disconnected piece of ducting.

First off I think you need to clarify a couple things....how cold is it outside, this is important in determining the temp you are starting from....secondly you need to define what is "a long time"...and yes it will consume a lot of propane, but again depends how cold it is and what you are trying to warm the trailer up to..are you trying to reach 65F or are you shooting for 80F...it's all important in trying to answer your questions. To give an example, we have the exact same trailer last time out, outside temps were getting to about 28-29 at night, and rebounding to about upper 30's in the day, was also very windy which makes a difference. We went through a 30lb propane tank in 3 days, maintaining the trailer at 72F, and we supplemented it with an electric heater.
