8299BS Battery Box

We just bought a 2017 8299BS and are expecting to take delivery in 10 weeks. In preparation I would like to have the battery on hand at delivery. I cannot find any info on what size battery the battery box accepts. If anyone can provide info this would be appreciated.

Most dealers provide a battery; I'd be surprised if yours doesn't. Of course, it's usually not a great one. But it should do to get you started.

I suggest you call your dealer and confirm; for a few more $$, he might upgrade it for you.

I've survived 3 seasons on my Roo's "dealer" battery and 2 seasons so far on my Mini-Lite's "dealer" battery. But if you plan to do a lot of boondocking, you'll want to get a good deep cycle battery; two 6V golf cart batteries are even better.

Google "battery" at the top of this page and you'll get all kinds of threads.

batteries are dealer-installed items, on towables.
So there's no factory battery box.

Maybe not...

We purchased the sister model to the OP's, a Flagstaff 8529IKBS and ours came from the factory with a battery box in the front compartment with a vent hose attached and vented to the outside.

It did not come with the battery and that was supplied by the dealer.
Our box was big enough for a group 27 battery. I have since added another box directly beside it. I removed the inexpensive battery disconnect and added a disconnect/selector switch so I can use one, the other or both.

5Picker thank you. Our camper is not coming with the battery as it was included only if we purchased the starter kit. We have the same plans to add the 2nd battery box and selector switch. Your info is exactly what I needed to prepare for delivery.

Remind me to steer clear of your dealer!

Did you get propane tanks?

I agree. While the factory supplied the box, your dealer should supply the battery (and propane) as part of the deal. You shouldn't have to pay extra for that.
