Daisy,
I am interested in the upgrades to make the a/c more efficient. I would love to see some before / after pictures.

Sid,

Did you modify the A/C cover on the ceiling or are you saying you opened the vents in the cover? And, does your A/C now cycle on and off in the 95 degree days?

Patrick, no cover mod--------

Patrick, No I did not modify the cover, only inside the plenum box. There is a last picture that I should have made of the final completed mod. But it was so hot inside my"ROCKY" that I was in such a hurry to reassemble the A/C and get it working. If I remove the cover this next week for a follow up of the mod, I will make sure I make some more pictures. I more than doubled the opening to the vent ducts. If you look closely at the pictures I posted, you will see the before taper of the Styrofoam and after the taper. I even increased the taper more than the photos show.

The A/C will now cycle as designed after the "COOL DOWN". I am also using the window covers (Covers I made that is placed inside). I have tested the mod setting in my driveway. The 8285WS sets with the door facing east, bump out for living room facing wast. I also had the awning extended. The tempature outside was 91

Getting rid of the heat from the bath from the film I applied reduced the work the A/C had to overcome to reduce the working load of the BTU's of the A/C.

Sid,

So if I'm understanding you, you removed the cover and made your modification on the inside of the unit where the ac enters the ducting. You said you posted pictures, but could not find them.

Patrick

Already 91 here in florida-------

Already 91 here in Florida outside, inside the 8285WS the digital readout was at 89, turned on the A/C with a setting at 76 on the thermostat. Took one and one half hour to bring the temp down to 76 and a shut down of the A/C to the set temp. No awning out, just the ones that are over the bump-outs. My RV is setting North and south.

95 degrees is awesome. We just got back from camping at garner state park Texas and had 4 days of 100+ temps. Even at sunset it was close to 90 degrees.
