My shiny new 2017 2104s with all the bells and whistles...mostly. Yeah, that's a Frontier pulling it but I was within weight specs (at least while dry and empty) and I was very impressed by my Fronty's performance dragging that thing through 230 miles of South Texas heat to get it home. I prepped the truck up nicely, which will be another post, and should last until I replace it with a 1/2 ton in the near future.
I kept my speed around 60-65 MPH, but thanks to a steady headwind, blasting A/C and no overdrive I was gulping fuel like a freight train. The terrain was relatively flat, but there were a few hills, the steeper one's meant a drop to 3rd gear and a few MPH. My WDH and brake controller made the drive a breeze. I could definitely tell it was back there but rarely did the tail wag the dog.
For now I'll be doing some easy, local weekend getaways until I upgrade the TV. This will also serve as my hurricane evacuation plan just in case the Gulf decides to throw a party this summer. I have lots of mods planned while it's in my driveway, many ideas have been inspired by lurking on this excellent forum. I'll be sure to takes plenty of pictures and share my progress.
