AK-KO axles actually rated at 5,200 lb, not 4,000 lb

The sticker on my 5er says that max weight per axle is 4,000 lbs.
I went to the AL-KO website to check out the 4,000 lb axles and found that the 4,000 lb axle is actually a H52 model thatis rated at 5,200 lbs.
No 4,000 lb axles even though the sheet says it exists and the sheet has the smallest rated axle as 5,200 lbs.
Select from the left menu 4,000 to 7,000 lb axles and see what the sheet says.
AL-KO Kober - Rubber Suspension Axles

I sent them an email and asked to verify if the axles are actually rated at 5,200 lbs and not 4,000.

I will keep you posted if I get any answer.

Still talking about axles can anyone tell me if the Rockwood brakes are made by ALKO also.

Iggy, my axles are Model U40s

How did you determine they were actually H52s?

Would be awesome if so.

Could they be special order to FR by Al-Ko for use in the Rockwood/Flagstaff Ultra-Lite line?

I may be wrong with my assumption.
Is it marked on the axles some place?
Have you checked the site? No such animal as a U40.
Check the sheet out at the top says 4,000 lb and the first one on the sheet is a H52

I could never find any identification on my axles.... , I did some measurements of the mounting plates, (look at measurement F**)...on mine its a approx the 6" spacing of the holes...not 8" like on the H52's that are rated at 5200lbs. I'm confused as well...as there is nothing really listed for 4000lbs, so either there is a custom model for FR, or these are really 3500lb units (they use the same bearings as my old 21' TT that had 3500lb)

AL-KO axle are equipped with AL-KO brake parts, but the Dexter brake assembly will fit and are of better quality at a less expensive price. I installed Dexter brake assemblies on my previous trailer.

Thanks Bob for you input. I will let you know what I find.

Mike thanks for the information on the brakes.
Do we have 12" x 2" or 12" x 2 1/4" or or 12" 3 3/8" drums?
I just like to know what I have on my trailer just in case.

I believe our next step is to call Al-Ko and ask the question about the U-40 model. It may be a special order for FR or just a 3500 with heavier mounting hardware.

From the look of the Al-Ko manual if you have 5 bolt hubs you have 10" drums and 10 x 2 1/4" brakes not 12.

The brake I replaced on my 8315SS TT were Dexter 10" X 2-1/4", part # K23-026-00 and K23-027-00. It had 3500# Al-Ko axles.
I haven't checked which axle is used on my 8283SS FW.

Just went out and checked the axles. They're stamped U35-2.
Of course, my trailer is a 2006 model. Your axles may be different.

AlKO states that whatever it says onthe trailer label is what you have. So I gues they are 4,000 lb axles but I will look for soem type of ID to make sure.
So I guess I started a fire that landed up being a false alarm.

Iggy, I don't know that you actually found out anything.

Al-Ko wasn't going to tell you anything different than what they did even if the axles were really 5200lb units or for that matter beefed up 3500lb units. It's about liability and protecting the relationship with FR.

Mine is on each axle about in the center.
A black metal tag name plate stamped with the information.

With my bifocals its real hard to read without a strong light. Too close for far vision and I can't tilt my head enough to use the bifocal. Bummer getting old.
