Smile ALASKA

Has anyone pulled a TT to Alaska? We leave for 2 1/2 months in June. Reserved campsites all across US and Canada . I also have reserved one site in Alaska. My question is should I be concerned about reserving other sites in Alaska? Neighbor has been twice with motor home said they never reserved any sites just made sure they got to campsite by 1:00 or so for first come first serve.
Any tips would be appreciated. We have the Milepost book and also a campgrounds book. Is the Great Alaskan Coupon book worth buying?

Thanks

We went to Alaska several years ago. We bought the coupon book and ended up using it on a Kenai Fjords tour that more than paid for it. Check Ebay and see if you can find a discounted one closer to when you leave.

Are you going to Seward? If so, highly recommend Miller's Landing campground. That one I would reserve a bay front site. Incredible view!

Thanks the new book does not have the Kenai tours. I read where a lot of the tours felt they were loosing money with coupons. Still lots of good coupons so I think we will buy it.

How about airplane tour of the glaciers? We were going to do that, but the weather didn't cooperate.

It's fantastic. A real feel of the "old Alaska" complete with pot belly stove and old timers sitting around it in the office. We parked our Class A rental on our site, went to bed, and in the morning the tide had come in and I thought we were floating when we looked out the front window.
The road to the campground can be a bit pot holey, just need to take your time to avoid bottoming out.

Spent 2 weeks in Alaska 2 years ago.. Cannot wait to pull my 5vr up and spend some time.. just be careful of what they call a road.. Even the highways are unique from the permafrost.
