Another question please

When using the fresh water tank and water pump, does the city water have to be turned off?

If you run the pump and pull from the tank with the city water on you will get a mix of the two sources. If you want only the water from the tank the city water has to be turned off. I do this sometimes when DW takes a shower and I have soft water in my fresh water tank because city water will make her itch.

Soft water in your tank? Are you treating it?

No, I fill the tank at home which has a water softening system and carry it with me.

I believe you will get water from the source with the highest pressure. If the city water pressure drops (enough), the pump should start and try and boost pressure.

"Enough" is the operative word since the "cut in" pressure is pretty low.

While Shurflo does not specifically warn against trying to run the pump with another source of pressure, cycling ("floating") of the check valve protecting the fresh water tank may cause permanent damage.

I wasn't suggesting running them at the same time, I have had situations where I had them both on at the same time. Individually (one at a time) had low flow but with both on higher flow than either alone (and yes the pump cycled on and off) so I sermised a mixing of the waters was occurring thus my statement. The shower part (which I could have stated better was to show where I shut off city water and turned on the pump for DW to shower with soft water from the tank. Thanks for the info and the link.
