Antenna

Has anyone replaced their antennas ? We have a 2016 Rockwood ws . We can only get 2 channels in!! Others in our campground get more channels. We are looking to upgrade the antenna. The king Jack is an antenna upgrade we are looking at. Looking for feedback/recommendations from anyone else who has done upgrades regarding their antenna. Thanks !

Just to be sure, do you have an antenna booster/amplifier button usually near cable input where the tv cable plugs into camper? Most have a green light that shows its on

Have you made sure the TV input is set for the antenna?? My antenna works pretty darn good, I think.

Antenna

Something you may want to check, even though it's a pain in the butt, is that all the coax connections are tight. When I replaced my IRV 66 audio system I found that all of the screw on connectors were very loose especially the ones to the splitter and booster. After tightening them the TV didn't lockup anymore and I was able to receive three more channels.

One other thing; make sure you can actually receive more stations at your location AND your antenna is pointed in the correct direction.

Digital signals are way more directional than the old analog kind. Perhaps you only need an adapter to get the farther UHF digital signals (like the Winegard Wingman).

I use AntennaWeb - Home to locate the available channels and what direction to point the antenna. TitanTV.com will let you know what is on.

Here are some photos of our campsite at MacDill AFB Fl and the channels and direction to point the antenna. Remember to treat the white box of the Winegard as the cockpit of an airplane and the "batwings" as the wings of the plane. You need to point the antenna like an airplane and "fly" to the transmission tower(s).

To be more clear; you can enter your address (or just a zip code) to get the map centered on the area you are camping at. Then you can zoom in using "satellite view" for a photo of the campground and actually drag the location "pipper" to your camp site.

Once the "pipper" is on your campsite the tower search will be correct for YOUR camp site (not mine in Florida )

I use an app called "TV antenna helper" on my phone. It works well, and it's free.

When I just have my iPhone or iPad handy I use an app called "TV Towers" and it returns similar results to the browser antennaweb.org program.
