Anybody bought a 2012 Rockwood 2702ss

Hi everybody,

I am going to be buying my first TT shortly and my wife and I really like the look of the Rockwood ultra lite 2702ss. I was just wondering if there are any owners of that model and if so, how do you like it. How much did you end up paying? My TV is a 2009 f150 crew cab with the 5.4 v-8, 3.55 rear end and standard tow pakage. Any advice for a newbie would be appreciate.

We have a 2012 Flagstaff 27BESS which is the exact same trailer except with different decals and upholstery. We love the layout but we were only able to camp one week with it last year as we bought it late in the season.

The only that worries me a little is having the kitchen on the slide-out as that means a lot of plumbing has to move with the slide. Otherwise the layout is perfect for us. We tow ours with a 2011 F150 5.0L with 3.55 gears and it tows nicely.

pappcam,

have you towed in the mountains yet. If so, how did that go?

I ordered a 2702SS in Feb and was told last week that it was "born" and I should be picking it up very shortly. We actually ordered ours because we wanted some options on ours that they normally don't add on the cookie cut dealer units. My DW and I loved the floor plan because Our 2 boys will have their own beds. Also if we have the in laws camp with us then the lower bunk will give them a private area of their own.

I am pulling mine with a Chevy Silberado with a 5.3 with the extra heavy tow package. I added a P3 brake controller and Firestone 5000 lbs bags to level the truck. I also purchased a Equalizer 1000/10k hitch.

Good luck with yours and happy camping.

I have not towed in the mountains with mine as I live on the prairies and just go through the odd valley or two. It tows fine and I can get it into overdrive when I have a favourable wind and the terrain is flat.

I have a regular WDH and 2 anti-sway bars and the stability is good. We have the tow package with the integrated TBC and it works awesome as it is kind of like part of the vehicle when hitched up as it integrates into the LCD display on the instrument cluster.

I believe lots of mountain driving would mean some downshifting but I think it wold clearly be capable.

I have a 2011 2702SS and my TV is a 2010 F150 SCREW with 5.4. I use a 10K equalizer and the unit pulls like nothing. 110km/hr no problem. A head wind makes it work but overall very happy. Put on about 4500km last year and never had a problem.
