Anyone running 8329ss/Ecoboost combo?
Not that I'm thinking about getting rid of the Excursion or anything, but my friend has a nice 2016 CC f-150 with the ecoboost. Its a VERY nice truck, comfortable as all get out and rather stout in the towing department. According to Fords website for the 2016, every possible configuration of the truck is rated at 10K pounds of conventional towing or better.
The numbers look like the f-150 Ecoboost/8329ss combo would work together, but it'd be nice to hear from a person actually doing it to hear if it really works out.

I have a 2013 F150 Ecoboost with the max-tow package. I have towed my 8329ss coast to coast and have never lacked power, even through the mountains. I use an Equalizer weight dist. hitch w/4 point sway control. My only concern is that I have weighed at the scales and I am right at my max. cargo (1866 lbs.) when all hooked up. For this reason, I will probably move up to an F250 when the time comes to replace.

We tow our 2018 8329ss with our 2015 F150 XLT. To ensure I dont have any issues, I have upgraded the brakes (better rotors and pads), have a 93oct tow tune, new 34" E rated 10ply tires, and a progressive helper spring leaf in the back with adjustable shocks. My payload is 1666# and am over slightly on the CAT scales. My truck with occupants, dogs, 36gal gas, and typical chairs in the bed was #6020 (from memory). The tongue on the trailer is HEAVY (just over 1100 lbs). Should I have a bigger truck; maybe. Can I drive this one safely; yes. You already know this trailer, as you have one, so this is about the truck.
The F150 3.5l ecoboost was not lacking in speed or power from the factory, but I bought a tune for $600 and am very very happy. It really livened up the truck and the torque was raised significantly (~20hp and ~80 ft lbs on 93 tow tune). I have several times spun tires when pulling the trailer trying to pull out from a on ramp or stop sign ... fun when I want to do that!
I have a Husky WDH with 800-1200 lbs bars. I suggest 1400 bars on either a Husky or Equilizer friction sway setup. The truck squats hard so the bars take a good bit of stiffness to keep the combo level and from porpoising, but the 1200 bars work OK for us with little to no porpoising. We just experience some sway (wagging) when over 20mph crosswind. To counter act this with the WDH, I added the progressive spring bars and new adjustable shocks that are set to hard/firm when towing. (The shocks were key in a smoother ride and stable trailer). The shocks also stopped the wheel hop of the truck on a freeway curve hitting a joint bump without the trailer (scary when the back kicks out). That factory rear shocks are TERRIBLE!
This truck isn't the best thing on the road for towing large trailers this size, but it isn't a slouch and it handles its own. But in my eyes I added the items I did to ensure a smoother ride for us. This truck is what we need now and is safe. There are quite a few others out there towing this and its sister setup with 1500's and all are happy that I have read and talked to.
I have attached a few pics of my setup for your enjoyment!
Some pics are me dialing in the WDH to remove the rear squat and front weight, some are parked camping at various state parks or even at a truck stop. One of them I was at MidOhio race course! Now that was interesting as i had to back the trailer (jack knifed over a 16-18" tree root), That was not fun....

Just some info.
My trailer looks to be about 2000 lbs lighter than yours. I've now towed it with both a 2016 and 2018 F-150 Platinum SC 4x4 3.5 EB. Both trucks are pure stock - no wheel, airbag, shock, etc. changes. I am close to the GVW and CC for my truck, under by about 200 lbs on each. So, if you are concerned about those numbers, I would check carefully before buying. Depending on what trim level you want, you may well be OK.
I really like the massaging seats that come with the platinum trim level.
2016 was a 6.5' bed, 2018 is a 5.5". Just got back from a 3k mile trip down to Texas and the 2018 performed admirably.

I've had a 2013 F150cc ecoboost with the Max tow package and now I have a stock 2017 F150cc ecoboost. I'm also towing a 2015 8329ss but I cannot tell much difference between the two trucks. Never had any problems with power with either truck. I can say that I do get a little better gas mileage while towing with the 2017 10 speed transmission (11.7 to 12.9) at 65mph. I do however have a substantial amount of sway that I'm working on to correct. Just to note, I had this sway issue with both trucks. Hope this helps.

I'm Enjoying this all good stuff, We have a 2906WS and are looking to replace our TV. We are 7,300 dry and 8200 loaded. I have no question the ecoboost would have the power I'm just leaning towards the 3/4 ton so we have no worries about payload and the stouter truck should make for a none stressful driving experance. We are looking at a F250 with the 6.2 Gas, I'm having a heard time justifying a Diesal for pulling under 3,000 mile a year. I wish the ecoboost was in the 250, Note sure yet if all those rev's are going to drive me crazy or not.

The ecoboost will operate at less RPMS than the 6.2 or a 5.0.

Order a F150 with the max-tow and max-payload. Then you will probably be over 2000 lbs payload .

It clearly states 1666lbs in your own post.

That’s a mighty big trailer for an F-150. Having towed our 32 ft. long, 7300# TT with both a F-150 (5.4 L) and a F-250 (6.2L gas) I can say the F-250 is much more competent for the task. I modded the F-150 with an extra leaf spring and LR-E tires to make it more stable but I was still well over its GVWR with all 5 of us onboard. The F-250 is built to handle that size trailer and it has massive brakes in comparison. The F-150 can do it, just not as well. If you have any thoughts of eventually moving to a 5er, then opt for the F-250, or get the HD payload package on a F-150.

I have towed this TT with a 1/2T truck, although not a F150. After the incident that I had I will never tow the 8329SS with a 1/2T again. Sure it pulled it well had the power to do so, but stopping the 8500 lbs is a complete different story all together.

I had lots of sway with ours as well. I truly believe that the unbalance of this TT is to blame in part. Kitchen, bath, 2 slides, outside storage, and water heater all on the same side. My left front tire always look slack even at the same pressure as the others. I have recently noticed that the tires are 5/8" closer on the passenger side verses driver side. I have planned a trip to the alignment shop soon. Wondering if that is causing sway.

Might also consider swapping the trailer brakes. I spotted the attached advert. I am thinking of making the change to my trailer. I don't know if I believe the ad, but it makes one think...

I have the same sway problems however I just tired a couple mods that might correct the problem. 1. re-drilled the hitch shank so that the ball is as close to the truck as possible and I just added an additional sway bar controller so now I have one on each side of the trailer. I am planning on camping next weekend and I can report back if these mods made any significant changes.

Your trailer should be stopping itself. That's what trailer brakes are for.

I know that. I was pointing out that it was in your own post, which you quoted his post that had the payload capacity number.
