I have an Rockwood 8312SS and my dealer told me they were there to ensure a good seal during rainy weather. Told me to use them if it is raining...so I do and don't have a problem.. I did get caught once in the rain without them and saw a little water on the floor.

If you have Schwintek slides, they have rack gears top and bottom of
both sides so it's not possible for them to tip out and no locks are
needed.

Ours came with a slide lock which we never use.

I am learning so much from this forum but have no idea what slide locks are, what they look like or how to use them. We bought our very first RV 6 months ago, a 2012 Sunseeker 2250LS. It has a single slide where the queen bed is. I can see the "work like' tracks on it when it is out - does that mean it's a Schwindle? Or something else?

You won't need one....a lot of other style slides use them as a safety feature to keep slide from moving out on it's own while traveling
