I put a brand new 12V battery in our Rockwood 8265S 5th wheel before we went camping last weekend, but I had no lights on 12V power. It didn't even have any power to light the fridge on propane. Charged the battery on a portable charger & put it in the trailer, but still no power. However when I hook the trailers tail light pig tail into the truck, the fridge came on on propane & I have power to the lights. Also, with shore power plugged in, and the battery out of the trailer, the passenger side slide motor won't work, but with the battery in the trailer and shore power plugged in, the passenger side slide motor works. Very confusing. I hooked the new battery to my boat's trolling motor, and it spun the prop real good. Does this sound like my converter is bad?
Also the manual that came with the camper says my converter is a Parallax 7100 series. Does anyone know what model 7100 series my camper might have, 7155 possibly?
Doesn't sound like the battery is bad if the trolling motor runs - a meter would confirm that. If you have a charge on the battery, I doubt the converter is the problem.
Sounds like a fuse in-line between the battery and the load. Usually these are a resettable breaker, sometimes a fuse. Trace your positive wire from the battery back to find it. Also double check your "reverse polarity" fuses in your converter. These can blow if the battery gets connected with the wires reversed.
Thanks KMP44. I checked the battery hot line fuse (located about 30" from battery. It was good. The only fuses on my breaker panel are two 30A fuses that set side by side and below them the five or six fuses for the various circuits for appliances such as A/C, water heater, etc. Where are these converter reverse polarity fuses? I am going to check and see if I have power on the hot battery cable where it connects to the breaker panel lug with a simple light up tester this evening when I get home from work. If the tester doesn't show power there, I'll know the break in power is between the panel & the battery.
Have a look for a mini-breaker in-line with your positive lead from battery to converter. On a travel trailer it is usually underneath the frame near the tongue. I don't know about a fifth wheel. It needs to be reset, small black button on the side. Hope that what it is.

It is probably 55 amp converter. 7100 series and 55 amp. #7155
Thanks Fonzie that was it. The button was on the bottom of the box where I couldn't see it. I thought it was just a junction box, but should have knew better since my boat's trolling motor battery connection has one of these on it and when I had to troll all the way to the landing one day when my big motor's starter went out, twice the lead got hot and tripped this breaker.

I changed that to an auto reset, I had to stand on my head to find that button one time......
hmm so do you just press the button? What happens if you say press it twice. Mine is giving me the same problem???
What unit do you own that's giving you the problem? Also what do you mean you pressed it twice? Are you talking about that little black button? Mine use to trip everytime I brought my landing legs up to far it will trip everytime. It would be helpful if you add your unit model and your tow veh. in your line signature..
I have a wildwood 26tbss. I pressed it twice because it is under the trailer and quite difficult to get at, so I wasn't sure if I pressed it the first time so I did again.Good idea, im a newbie

You should think about changing it out to an auto reset. More then likely it would be a 40 amp. I would call your dealer and ask what the amperage is then you won't have to crawl under your trailer. Do you have any idea why it trip to begin with? Sometimes they are just weak right out of the box. Also welcome to the Forum, and safe travels to you. My first trailer was a Wildwood LE 19', before that it was always tents for us......
