Battery disconnect
I have a 2013 rockwood model 8315bss. It does have a battery disconnect in it. Does anybody know why the slides and the front jack still work when it is in the off position? Also the switch is opposite of how it should be. Pulled out is on and pushed in is off. Is that correct?

Slides and jacks hooked directly to battery

This is a bad setup for a disconnect switch.
IMO, it needs to be re-wired to isolate the battery from all draws.

If he is plugged into shore power won't they still work? I think the battery disconnect is factory wired, a simple push/pull switch.

Mine was that way from the factory to .
Just looked at three of my camping friends whom have 1 year or less 5ers and theres are all the same .

I installed one from the battery to the camper and works fine til I plug the truck in and then the trailer draws from the truck. Same if it is hooked to shore power. Haven't figured out how to kill ALL 12v to camper with it hooked to shore power &/or truck. Suggestions?

Why would you want to do that?
On shore power or truck you would want the camper's battery to charge, no?

Your disconnect must be located near the converter and not the battery (for convenience?).
The slide fuses and the landing gear fuses must be located within 18 inches of the battery. Putting the disconnect between the battery and those fuses would isolate everything; after the fuses it would just isolate that buss and the battery from the converter.
If it was located in the battery compartment you could isolate the batteries from everything.

When I remote controlled the awning I was wanting to do it, but couldn't figure out how, so I just figured out how to lock the awning. Everything is cool now, don't really want to. I can switch the batteries off with the switch, but in all honesty, in all my yrs camping I've never had reason to shut them off.

Getting back to your original question, It may be because the solonoid operated disconnect or isolator is normally sized for 50 to 70 amps capacity, which covers most all of the DC accesories load. The slides, jacks etc can be up to 200 amp draw in some of the larger RV's. It would be expensive to add a powered disconnect to handle 250 amps for no real gain. Jacks and slides can have 0 Parasitic loss as compared to lights, alarms and other things on the normal DC bus. Push/pull switches normally close when out, in to open. Most units are wired so that DC bus is energised when on shore power with or without batteries, not always however.

I have 2012 rockwood model 8315bss and when my battery disconnect is on the only thing that works is the power tongue jack.

I would think it would be close to your converter or battery.
Also if you have a 2013 brochure it may not pertain to a 2012.

My battery disconnect switch on my 2012 rockwood 8315bss is located just below the refrigerator door its a round chrome switch that pulls in and out.
