Installing Battery Disconnect
Our first trip with our 'new' 2010 2304 ultralite kicks off tomorrow. The TT came with a new Interstate RV/marine battery - not a true deep cycle. I don't know how much boondocking we will be doing but I will probably be getting a second battery.
The TT will be stored away from our house. It will be sitting unused for 3 - 4 weeks at a time so I'm thinking of installing a battery disconnect switch.
Option 1 is to install a knife type switch directly on a battery terminal (I assume the switch will fit inside the battery box). The advantage of this arrangement is that I'm sure all parasitic loads will be killed.
Option 2 is to tie into the main 12 v cable that is exposed under the rear bench seat adjacent to the shower. The advantage of this arrangement is that I don't have to access the battery terminal each trip. However, I don't know if having the switch at this location will isolate all of the devices.
Any suggestions or comments?
