I need to replace my bedroom slider gearbox/motor.
Any tips? Dealer wants $450.00 labor for it. I think it's too high. How difficult it is to adjust chain and cables?
It would help if you list your make and model of rig and the type of slide to get the best answers. Sort of sounds like a acuslide but that is a guess on my part.

I just replaced mine last week. Wasn't that bad even considering that I had to remove the breaker panel to get to the adjustments on the one side. You'll need a #3 phillips bit to remove the gear box/motor and a 7/16 & 3/8 rachet wrenches (these make life easier!) to loosen chains and adjust cables. My cables were mislabeled which didn't speed things up. Took about 2hours to get things tore apart and back together. This is what my gearbox looked like when I tore it apart.
