OK. So I'm guessing your 1-1/4" hitch has threads in the wall of the hitch that the pinch bolt screws into, instead of a large nut inside the hitch.

My bike hitch attaches the same way to the receiver. Once the bolt is torqued down, it's effectively makes the hitch part of the vehicle. It's very rigid.
