Bike rack questions

I was looking at the options for the 2017 windjammer and there is a ladder mounted bike rack! Does anybody have a picture of this rack?

I have a 2015 windjammer and have always put the bikes inside

My dealer says the bike rack is $109 but has no pictures to show how rockwood safely hangs bikes from the ladder

I would think this would cause more issues with the latter install and hardly safe in my book. Maybe for only one bike also. Later RJD

I agree with you. That is why I was so surprised to see it listed as an official accessory for 2017 windjammers

The manufacturers are so worried about everything breaking they don't usually recommend mounting anything to the ladder

On the other hand, I see bikes mounted on ladders all the time.

Our 2016 Rockwood came with a ladder mounted bike rack. I would say it's probably the same that the Windjammer will come with. It's not the best rack out there but it certain got the job done for 2 kids bikes. I still put my wife's and my bikes in the back of the truck.

I bought a 2016 Rockwood 8312SS. Mine did not come with a bike rack or a second ladder in the bunk house. The web site says 2 ladders, but nothing about a bike rack. Hummm?? Email time LOL

I never liked the idea of blocking the ladder with bikes incase I had to get on the roof with the bikes mounted. So, I went with this set up. Click image for larger version

All I had to do is move the spare tire over to one side and mount the receiver. I just got back from a 600 mile trip with no issues with 2 Adult bikes on the back. Also, unless you are going to mount your bikes vertical, you will have part of your bikes extending past the side of your camper if you hang from the ladder. Beware of trees and other objects hitting your bikes.

It was around $100 for the rack and $31 for the receiver.

The ladder bike rack shown in the picture above, has been used by myself for years. This is the best bike rack on the market. It mounts in seconds and is removed just as fast. I have used mine for over 8 years with no problems. I have had people at campgrounds all over ask where to get one. You can find them on Amazon and EBay. I bought mine years ago on EBay.

Don't think Atwood makes these anymore. None listed on their website. Etrailer has a pic of one as their lead-in to RV ladder racks (see link), but when you click on it, none of the ladder racks are Atwood.

Didn't find any on Amazon/Ebay doing a google search, either. There are several other brands, but not Atwood.

Forest river has a ladder mounted bike rack that is listed as an accessory for the windjammer.

$109.00. I'm surprised Forest River would sell one
