Black Plastic Trim on Slide out

Know I read somewhere, but not using the correct search terms I guess about a black plastic piece that goes on the bottom corner of the slides. All mine have it, but one "buckled" for lack of a better term, and ripped the screws for the rubber piece on the side right out, all but two.
Now for what to do?
It is under warranty, so I know they will fix it, but what is better?? Just leave it and try not to operate the slide, or take it off myself and just leave it off till dealer can repair?
Have plans to go next weekend in it for the holiday and seriously doubt dealer would get it in and fixed by then.
Any opinions would be appreciated.
