Get ready for hundreds of opinions. I run the Goodyear Marathons on my fiver. Still Chinese tires but hopefully with some better quality standards. No issues so far and keeping my fingers crossed.

Just wondering how long you've had them on?

My 8280 Rockwood came with a set of E-rated Carlisle's, put on from previous owner. I've got about 8500 miles on them by now, and haven't had a problem.......yet. Have owned trailer 3 years.

After about 8200 miles, we had our first blowout on our Windjammer's OEM Trail Express Load range C tires this summer and promptly replaced them with Load Range D Goodyear Marathons. Agree with Old Car's statement...brace yourself for lots of opinions on this one. Happy camping!

Typically the most respected brands for TT and 5ers usually mentioned here are Maxxis & GY Marathon, and several others are often mentioned. Some will mention light truck tires. You'll have lots to choose from. Sorry about your blowout. I've had 4 over the years. Now running in gy marathons. Good luck.

Miles has nothing to do with the bad quality of the tires.

Well, this last July we decided to replace our OEM tires that we drove with for 2700 miles with tires that the RV Service company we chose recommended to us. I'm not naming names or telling brands but after 1500 miles on these new and "better" tires, we had a blowout. We had just started out for our next destination at 6 am in the morning and after one hour of traveling decided to stop for some breakfast. The blowout happened just before we made it to the Cracker Barrel near a Target parking lot so that we were able to stop almost immediately after the blowout.

We know that we did not hit any curbs with these tires, we always made sure the air pressure was correct and it wasn't a nail or road debris that caused the blowout. I'm positive the tire was defective.

Moral of the story, no matter how hard you try, **it still happens. We put the new spare on and kept going. The real test will be our trip back home. Praying we make it back in one piece. Then we'll talk with our RV service company and see what they say.

I'll ask again... how long were they on your unit? (timewise not mileage)

As OC mentioned, miles really doesn't have much to do with failure of these 'inexpensive' tires but time on the unit could.

Maxxis, Goodyear and Carlisle. Maybe some others.

I agree, number of miles is irrelevant. Unless you are running down the road constantly you will probably never wear the tread out.

I also agree that you could do all your research, put on the best tire and still have a blowout.

It is all about chances (and proper maintenance). You put on good tires and keep them maintained and you have a better chance of avoiding a blowout.

X 2 When I bought the new camper this year I made them swap ties from my trade in as I had just installed the GY tires 8 months prior. Later RJD

Thanks.

Two years isn't much life.
I don't see any info about your location so I really can't speculate on heat/sun exposure or any other conditions that could contribute.

None the less, blowouts are a fact of having an RV.
Seems these 'inexpensive' factory installed tires are more susceptible to problems than ever before.

As said, even with proper maintenance, covering the tires between uses, never hitting a road hazard, etc., etc... a blowout can and will happen.

It's often been said... not IF but when!

We have had ours 2 years and bought it new. I read all the negative feedback earlier about these tires we just kept putting off changing them. Lesson learned about procrastinating! LOL

We didn't procrastinate and it still happened. My DH and I laughed about how maybe we should've kept our OEM china bombs, lol! But in all seriousness, you do your best and leave the rest and pray nobody gets hurt

Tire pressure monitoring systems can save you lots of money and provide peace of mind. Won't keep a tire from blowing, but will give you notice so hopefully you can get off the road before tire explodes.
