Bouncing 2608ws

My '15 2608 is great in many ways but if tends to bounce pretty good on some roads. Tends to be concert highways. I'm wondering what others experiences are? I'm been thinking that these 14" c rated tires are part of the problem. I'm on a 5 month trip out west from Florida and was not planning on replacing them until I return figuring I'd delay another expense for a year. Also wanted to move up to a 15" tire if I can. I just read that rims are rated and perhaps my OEM rim might not be able to handle handle greater pressure. Any opinions about this?

Your in for a interesting Ride! Putting on 15" tires and MORE pressure will develop (Hard Tires)! Using what came on the unit 14" NOT at full pressure will produce (Bounce)! You have (Rubber Ride) axles and NO shocks, hard to smooth out the (Vibration)! Youroo!!

So do you mean that the bounce is inherent to this trailer? And higher PSI won't make a difference?

As alluded to by Youroo, your TT has a torsion (rubber) suspension and by design, they bounce far less than their leaf spring counterparts. That could suggest that you may have issues with the torsion components in one of the axles. If so, larger tires will not help you out. I'd want to ensure that the four trailing arms of the suspension are indeed being supported by the rubber cords within the axles.

OldCoot installed them on his and found it considerably better.

Just got the 2016 Rockwood 2608WS home after an initial 400 mile trip. Very little bounce at all and overall a smooth ride on the original 14" radial China tires running 55 PSI. Torsion bar suspension seems to work good. Probably will replace tires with other 14" tires this year. Dealer balanced the tires at no cost to me before picking up the trailer.

We have a 2013 2608 ws and have found it very sensitive to where you are adding weight to it. We have found that we need to keep most weight around the axles. There are other posts that talk about the balance issue with this model. I also upped my Reese dual cam bars from 800# to 1200# bars and this has helped. It's suprising how fast the tongue weight jumps on this trailer once you load the fridge and cabinets. The heavier bars and 4 links on the chains with the head tilted all the way back (6) and it pulls and rides much smoother and stable.

Mine bounced right off the road and took my truck with it, totaled both. This is just a inherently unstable trailer IMHO and the axles should be upgraded to a pair of 5k's and moved back a foot.

What I find very strange is the fact the total weight with Max cargo on this trailer is 6635 # yet only has 2 -3000# axles. The math is just wrong.

I remember reading a thread about the weight thing bef9re and someone said it was due to the fact that a certain amount of weight goes onto the TV not the axels.

In theory 780 # tongue would make 5850# on the axle, but that is dry tongue and it still lists 970# cargo

Tongue weight is 10 to 15% of trailer weight. 6630-10%=5967. 6630-15% is going be even more below 6000.

6635-13%=862
weight distribution hitch using 1000# bars should be able to remove/ relocate about 500# from the rear axle which should get distributed nearly equally between the front axle and TT
so 500/2=250#
6635-862= 5803+250=
6053 on 6000# axles
