Buying my first trailer

Hi all, I've been reading through this forum and just love it. I just bought (will be delivered this weekend) my first camping trailer. All the research I did, quality and bang for your buck the Rockwood won my heart. I'm getting the Rockwood 2306 with a Murphy bed. What a cool concept!!! Anyways, I'll post pic's when I get actually get it. Does anyone have any "heads up" for me? Things to watch for with this particular unit or concerns?

Looking forward to seeing my fellow Rockwood owners out on the sites.

Cheers

Todd

congrats - on the 2306 - same model as mine

I didnt have any major issues on delivery or PDI

Here are some suggestions though after delivery -
I changed out the shower head to a Oxygenetics and added a curved shower rod to my bathroom and watch your head when you lean down in the bathroom sink - the medicine cabinet is right over the sink - dont ask me how I know
I also added a Battery Disconnect so when the trailer sits for more then a month without charging the battery it doesnt kill the battery.

Congrats and welcome to the family. We love our 2503s we took delivery of in March. No upgrades except for adding a tv and dtv box. We recently changed our Toad from an 03 Tacoma to an 11 Tundra. Enjoy your new TT!

Welcome to the forum.

I would make sure that all water connections, the ones you see and can not see, are tight. Especially the small city water filter before the water pump, which is probably buried somewhere in a cabinet. Mine was barely in place and flooded the washroom when I plugged her in to city water on the maiden voyage back to home from the dealer.

Congrats on the new trailer! I've had pretty good luck with mine after 4 years of ownership(Rockwood), but realize no camper is perfect. Before I went out, I hooked up my garden hose to the trailer in my driveway to check sink fittings. Sure enough under the kitchen sink, the drain fittings were loose. Nothing that couldn't be fixed, but didn't want a disaster on the 1st outing. Just keep a small tool kit that has screw drivers, allen wrenches, & sockets just in case. I occasionally have my crank up handle(television antenna) loosen on the inside of the trailer after several camping trips. Inspect the roof twice a year in spring/fall for any possible water penetrations. Use Dicor or like sealant on any suspect cracking. All those questions will be answered on this forum.

Just FYI, a toad refers to the vehicle towed behind a motorhome, the tow vehicle or TV refers to the truck used to pull a trailer. (where as tv lower case is television)

I also added to my 2306 a locking door for the fresh water fill so no one will tamper with my fresh water http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...6-a-11807.html

Here is my battery Disconnect thread so you havean idea of installing one if you decide to http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...6-a-12368.html

I also added a curved shower rod to mine so that when taking a shower the curtain does not cling to you - http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...rod-11752.html

I also found this to be of intrest as well - turning the two night stands next to the queen bed (not sure if they are in the murchy bed option though) - post #8

Agreed, the Oxygenics shower head was most likely the best upgrade ever. I have a different model camper (Sierra 355QBQ), but showers are one of the nicest amenities ever in all campers. Definitely worth the money for upgrade. Happy camping and congrats on the new delivery.
