Cheaper alternative to step carpet.

Ok so lets get this out of the way, I am a cheapskate when it comes to certain things. I didn't mind spending the money on the Rockwood but it about kills me to pay $17 a piece for the radius step covers. Thats $102 plus tax to cover all the steps on my 2604 and for some reason that seems outrageous. Any body have a cheaper alternative or a place that gives a bigger discount when you by multiples.

Just asking, I tried some astro turf style rug that Home Depot sells but it will not take the stress of pulling on it with bungie cord. The grommets pull through.

Walmart, RV section near Sporting Goods: CAMCO brand, less than $9 a step. Wrap around with spring clips.

Went to hardware store and bought indoor outdoor carpet and cut to length and width. Then off to hf to get a grommet kit and drilled and screwed into steps. VOOLA !!! Cheap covers and keeps dirt out and easily cleaned goin down road in the rain.

Walmart

Does Walmart have the radius step? Didn't see them on line via Walmart.

I made thin plywood step covers with a stainless bolt facing down, and secured with a wing but. Covered it with a small strip of indoor outdoor carpet runner from HD. With the dogs running up and down the steps, and a clumsy old man ( me) following them, I didn't want to chance a slip on a piece of carpet not fastened well.

Outdoor carpet tile or get some outdoor carpet and just glue it down. We bought outdoor carpet tile in 12 and installed it and it is still holding good.

Thanks for the ideas.

Thanks for the ideas, the carpet tile seems like it might be the ticket. Hopefully it doesn't come up easily. Sounds like yours has been on a while with no issues.

Thanks
J

Clean the step surfaces where the tile will go with acetone or something similar. The surface has to be clean.

Is that yellow tape, or something else, on the front of each step to mark them, OC?
