Concertone weak antenna

Anyone have a suggestion for getting better reception for the FM tuner? I'm not in an area where I should be having issues. Need a booster or better outside antenna?Click image for larger version

Did you pull the unit out to verify the antenna wire is plugged in? What is the condition of the antenna?

I haven't pulled it out. I will do that. The antenna appears to be in good shape.

Doesn't seem to matter if it's Concertone, Jensen, iRV.....they are all notoriously weak. Hard to imagine in this day of modern technology that the RV manufacturers haven't been able to solve this. I live in a city where any of our cheapest clock radios in the house will pick up all the radio signals, yet the radio in our trailer can barely pick up our strongest station. I once attached a clothes hanger to the antenna then it worked pretty good. There is a few threads in this forum where people have hooked up their radios to the tv antenna with success.

Yep, I did that. I have great reception now that the radio uses the Telly's booster.

Here's the link to RodeoGeorge's thread. I followed his instructions. The install info is in posts #17 and 19.

Thanks! Sounds fairly easy. I probably just need to buy a splitter and the Motorola to F Connector adapter.

I had the same problem. I checked the antenna mount and found that there was a grounding wire that was not connected. i attached it to ground and had much better reception. I think that they need a "ground plane" to work properly.

Sometimes the radio uses the tv ant. If that is the case, try turning on antenna amp using small button on tv ant connection plate.

My TT has a separate antenna on the roof.

We have a great 70s/80s/90s FM station locally. I have free XM for 6 months on my new F-250 and its OK but not nice enough to pay for a subscription. I can plug in a USB key full of my favorite tunes if I'm travelling a long distance. The Concertone in the TT will only handle a very small SD card or USB, so its nice to have the option of live local radio at your destination.

Oh, yes. NPR for Morning Edition, All Things Considered and Car Talk. I also like to sit by the fire, smoke a good seegar and listen to college football. In the evenings we read and listen to our satellite radio for background music. I camped for so many years without a television, I have to remind myself it's there.

What are we going to do if they stop AM radio in the US like they are talking about doing. They did it in Europe already

People still listen to AM radio?

Last time I did, it was about 1973. We were in the hills above Malibu, CA at 3am and were able to pick up WLS in Chicago, IL.
