Cowling Failure

I have a 2013 Rockwood 8289 WS and I've noticed the front cowling is deflecting inward just above the decal "Rockwood". It has not been struck, nor is there any evidence of damage. It appears to being caused by head wind as I drive. It got noticeably worse on a recent trip from California to Utah and back. Is it possible for wind to damage the front cowling? Anyone else?

If your talking about the front cap, then yes I too have the problem. My 5er is the Flagstaff 8528rsws which is a sister to the Rockwood line. The rubber trim on the metal that secures the cap to the roof tore loose on our last trip, I beleive because of the change in air movement caused by the deformation of the front cap collapse. I have service scheduled Aug 9th at the plant service facility. If you search the forum, you will find many members reporting the same problem.

Cowling Failure

Thank you, I will try to locate those threads. It sounds like something the manufacturer is aware of then...

This is a known issue with this problem on 2013 Rockwood FW's. If you call your Rockwood warranty rep, they will replace the cap, if you have a good dealer that can do it. Mine had to go back to the factory to be replaced as the dealer was not cooperative with Rockwood to get it done. They did on mine back in April, as I too have a 2013 8289WS.

Factory replaced my front cap today. I had them leave the decals off since I anticipated them curling again, even though I was told the decals should not do that.
