Dealer Warranty work

Question for anyone we have a new ROCKWOOD WINDJAMMER 3008 with extended warranty. Took one trip and is in shop for warranty work. I was given a drop off date. Then told they would try to look at in the next month. So that puts Fla trip out for us. Is this the norm for having these fixed. We bought it two months ago and it's been in the shop 8 days. Any suggestions. Thanks

Are your returning to dealer you purchased from? I've never had this happen as I take mine in and usually within a week I have it back. I also have the extended warranty. Here again it's all about the dealer. Later RJD

Agreed, this is why many will just fix the problem ourselves (if possible) to avoid the stealerships.. EDIT: Wait until they pull the "we are waiting on FR to send the parts" which is code for we are waiting on it to get a better price on shipping and so you'll be mad at FR not us....

I guess, having an actual " winter " season in Canada.
My dealer has exactly 7 months to fix anything.
Plus, they winterize and store it for free!

A lot depends on if is the dealer you bought from or not.

And when you say "extended warranty", is that a 3rd party warranty or the $150 FR second year factory warranty?

Yes same place we bought it. They say they are busy. I asked for the parts and they have to do the warranty work. Seem like when I go there they are prepping new ones.

Of course they will they make more money selling folks units then they do fixing one they already sold and now need to wait to get their money from FR.

They also could be busy, no shortage of crappy quality coming out sometimes.

Get used to it. Sales are at record levels and quality seems to have went further south. The new business model is more with less and that applies to dealer service departments. On top of that they want to pay techs peanuts and then wonder why they don't have any, and why the ones they have are morons. It sure makes me wonder if I'm making the right move buying this new Roo. I already sold my Keystone where I knew what I had so I guess I'm committed.

As far as them telling you they cant get you the parts thats BS. They don't want to get you the parts. What did you put it in for? Rockwood will send you parts as long as you send them the documentation they want. All you have to do is contact them. Now if you took it in for say a fridge or something major that may be different but most parts you shoild be able to obtain yourself. Chesaco RV or Camping World?

If this dealer treats all folks this way you would think the word would get out about the poor service after purchase and there sales start to slip. Later RJD

My experience is a few years old. Dealer wanted MH for several weeks (probably a month or more). Independent repair shop did the job (correctly the first time) in three days.

One of the warranty issues we have is that the fireplace does not put out heat so we are at the mercy of the dealer to figure out what is wrong, as well as they have a kitchen faucet to replace they ordered when we first purchased it. We bought it at the Chesaco RV in Frederick, Md. There were a few issues with the TT when we took delivery and they had to order parts.

We wanted, and did, take a trip before the season was over so we put it in the shop the first available time which was the Monday before Thanksgiving. Yesterday when I spoke to them, they said to try back in 3 weeks. Wondering if I should contact Forest River or one of the other Chesaco dealers for help. We (jnkirkland and I) would rather have the TT at our storage place and covered instead of sitting around their parking lot.

I think all the Chesaco dealers all all the same any more so prob not going to get better help from the other's. We bought our trailer from them, they had a good price, they are close to our home.. No idea for service. We had only one issues, a door lock did not work (electronic). I called the maker of the lock and repaired myself.. Other than some quality issues (not their fault) I have had no trouble.
