Drawer won't stay shut (25409s)

Has anyone ran into an issue where the push latch (if that is what it is called :-)) won't keep a drawer shut? In the attached pictures, this mechanism does not seem to have enough pressure when shut to keep the drawer from opening while in transit. I have tried to take the drawer out to see if I can adjust it, but so far I have not had any luck.

If anyone has ran into the same issue, would love to hear how it was fixed or adjusted...or even what the name of this hardware piece is so I know what to google :-).

Interested to hear responses as well. Our drawers have the same issue, unlike the ones under the sink that the wife hates because she has a hard time opening them!

There is an adjustment screw on the bottom of the black square that will adjust the tension on the catch that sticks out.

We added velcro straps. Anchored them by screwing it into the wood on the back side of the "cabinet". A strip of the "hooks" on one side, and a strip of the "loops" on the other side. Close the drawer, and velcro strap all the way across the drawer front. Dont have any pics of it though. We did it on all of the drawers, after having the issue on the same drawer you have identified.

At the bottom under the drawer is the latch. Remove the factory one & replace with magnetic latch from any hardware store.

Drawer Locks

That picture looks just like my Wildwood. We keep pots and pans in that drawer, so its heavier that most. A very simple and cheap solution...I bought some "Babyloks" at the local Ace. They allow the drawer to open no more than two inches and keep it from opening any further.

Had the same issue. Bought snapping latch on Amazon. When drawer closes the latch is spring loaded and snap in place. Works great for heavy drawers.

Child Safety Cabinet Locks

Just installed a Child Safety Cabinet Lock on the drawer under our oven which had the same problem. Haven't been back on the road yet, but it looks like it should work very well.

Did the same with a couple drawers on our 2503S.

There's also a solution using magnets. See this thread for details.

We have a setup just like that in our Rockwood 5ver. We have one drawer that stays shut and one that does not. I added a little more weight to it with a heaver glass cake pan, and that seems to help.

I had the same issue but on a different way.
One of the guides was not holding so the drawer would always be a little open on one side.
That was caused by the wrong positioning of the cabinet guide on that side.
That guide was screwed too deep into the cabinet so the lock pin can not go deep down its position and it end up functioning as a device to help open the drawer instead.
the way I fixed that was to take the drawer out, unscrew the cabinet guide and screw it back 1/4in ahead (closer to the front) of it's original position.
That fixed the problem and the drawer doesn't open/ look open on one side anymore.
I had that problem on my previous Roo and on my current 2909Ws so it seems someone at Rockwood facility needs to improve the process....
