Dual Batteries on a Windjammer
My wife and I were looking at Windjammers at the Ohio RV show last night. We currently don't own a TT but are looking to buy. I noticed on the Windjammer that the battery tray is all the way forward on the frame and looks only big enough for a single battery.
This might be a "stupid" question, but Is there a place to mount a second battery on the Windjammer?

I have seen a couple different ways none of which I would use but on the 3001/30WRLS unit with the walk in closet one person put dual batteries in the closet another stacked a pair on the tongue and I think someone else built a tray to house 2 side by side (not sure how that would work with the propane doors though). IMO on mine if I was to ever want extra 12v power I would make a tray in the box of the truck and make a 12V extension cable from 0 guage welding cable to a plug inside the propane compartment, making sure the cable in the compartment was connected first before enabling the batteries.

So I would need to stack batteries if i want them on the frame. I am not a welder so would need a prefab stackable battery tray to do this. Anyone know of an aftermarket stackable tray?
I thought about adding a second battery in the engine compartment of the TV but am guessing that the problem would be in the length of cable needed to tie in. Also not sure about pairing an automotive battery with the TT battery.

This is my plan, use a small Honda Gen,(2) batt.will need charged anyway, without (30)amp service your trailer will be limited on the (NICE) things to use anyway. Boondock in a (Tent) use everything in your V-Nose! Youroo!!

I just ordered a 2013 Rockwood Windjammer 3006W before X-mas, should see delivery of the unit in February! I will see about adding a second battery to my TT also. Probably will not be an issue unless camping offline somewhere. We have only camped in grounds with utilities....spoiled city rats we are. We do plan to do some offline camping in Michigan with the new TT though!

Food for thought. If you add a "conventional" Deep Cycle battery, you have to consider the venting. Especially if you add it inside your RV.
Interstate has the Optima Batteries which require no venting, so they could be placed literally anywhere in the RV (closet floor, etc.) where you can run a heavy (AWG 6 at least) to your existing battery or 12V Distribution panel.

I've got the 3001 and had a second battery added as part of the deal. The dealership just put on a double tray immediately behind the jack, works perfectly, shouldn't be an issue at all. It's a metal one and maybe overhangs 2" on each side?

Thanks everyone for all the feedback. My dealer at first said that they could not install a dual tray on the V-Lite. I showed them the pics of the WindJammers that had them installed. After seeing the pics their service manager went out into the lot, took a few measurements off of a V nose, then came back with a big "thumbs up". They agreed to install the dual tray and are only charging me for the extra battery and cable. :-)

A family member has a Wind Jammer with dual batteries. He made a double decker frame and the covered it with diamond plate to dress it up. Looks very nice and works quite well.

Looks good. Where can I buy a dual battery rack like that for my V-Lite?

A second battery is a must on these trailers. When we picked our trailer up from the dealer it only had 1 and the sales guy said it would suffice. Well there I was at 2 in the morning hooking my truck up to the trailer with booster cables to keep the furnace going! I brought the trailer in thinking it was a bad battery but the service guy made the mistake of telling me that the battery is too small for the trailer. Well imagine that! Had them install a dual battery tray and put in a couple of 6V Trojans. Now I can camp for days anot have to worry about power.

I agree, a dual battery tray should be standard equipment on these. I am sitting in my TV now at Assateague Island charging the trailer battery. My generator broke down yesterday and today the battery was all but dead. So here i sit on a sunny day charging a woefully inadequate battery.
I also got a similar response from the dealer when I inquired about a dual battery tray they asked, "why would you want 2 batteries?" LOL, go figure.
