Okay, I guess "Back in the old days,... a motor can be a generator..." Sounded condescending to me. Apologies if I misread.
Nevertheless, as I've tried to explain, I wasn't disputing that back voltage could damage something. It was how could the voltage be applied if the switch was open.
At least one person got it so I don't think it was totally unclear.
