What do you mean by poping in and out? The Slide should not bind at all, It's still not adjusted right then,

Is it jumping off a track? Are you seeing signs of rubbing and wear?

fifth wheel 8289 2013 dining room slide out

Hello. Just serviced at Goshen. Remove the plastic blocks inside under carpet flap. Our problem ended. Also grease the tracks with white lithium grease. You can do this all yourself.

Sent from Goshen at the Corner of Maple and Moo !

Remove the plastic blocks? Really? are you sure? WE have similar issue but Forest River told me directly to check them and make sure that they are sitting flat on the floor and not rolled over or even pulled loose.

Its not a good Idea to use GREASE on your slide out guides and rams. The grease attracts dust and dirt and it causes theme to bind up after awhile. Better to use dri-slide or the lube designated for slide out systems. it goes on wet but dries to the touch quickly.

I have seen where several FR techs have said to use the white lithium grease on the slide tracks and gear packs. Others have said to use a dry lube. I guess to each his own. If I were using the white lithium grease I would be sure to clean it all off yearly and lube with new grease. Doing the dry lube thing seems easier but I would think the tracks and packs should be cleaned periodically.
I added the blocks to my dining slide to stop all the screeching and squeaking when moving the slide in and out, they were missing. Nice and quiet now, I guess every unit is different.

PhoneDude's post several weeks ago regarding the slide blocks sent me out to check mine. I found none on any of my 3 slides! While at Goshen I had a supervisor from one of the assembly plants in my TT discussing repairs. I showed him under each carpet overlap that my blocks were missing. He showed me that there never had been any and advised that my unit did not need them. Why? was my reply. His answer was that they are only necessary on heavier slides such as full wall kitchen types.
I have a 12' slide with fireplace, dining table/4 chairs and entertainment system. A 10' slide with stove/oven, refrigerator and sleeper couch. Both have always worked fine, no dragging or straining, so......I suppose all slides do not need those blocks.
When they adjusted my bedroom slide they did lube the track and gears very well with a dry spray teflon, also spraying the bottom plastic liner on it liberally so it slides on its entry into the TT easily.
Brian, I would try the dry lube first but if that failed to work to my satisfaction I would use Lithium, knowing it would need to be removed, tracks cleaned and reapplied at some interval.
Travel safe

I used standard tacky grease year one. Cleaned off and used lithium as you have suggested Max. The Rockwood techs said anything really works but taking time to clean annually or when dirty is paramount. I also clean and grease the hitch a couple times a year. Amazing how nicely it hitches up when lubed.

My hitch would never have worked very well, had I not taken it apart and buffed the heat scale off the pivot pin. Surely, mine missed a process to remove that before assembly.

Some of you have mentioned plastic blocks? Where exactly are these found and what do they look like? Would anyone have pictures? I have a 8329ss with three slides that squeal terribly during the last foot or so of travel (last foot travelling out and first foot to foot and a half going back in). Lubrication has not helped. Seems like it has to do with shifting of balance point. I have not seen the blocks referred to by others but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Ant suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Lift up your carpet inside , the blocks are on the edge of the floor, white nylon or delran material.

My 8289WS was doing the same squealing as you describe. Below are pictures of the wear blocks I installed, this took care of my squealing problem. I ordered from FR , it came in one strip that I cut and drilled. The slide has to be all the way out, lift the lip of the slide carpet at either end. You will see weather you have them or not. My dinette / entertainment slide never had any installed, the kitchen / sofa slide had them.
