Filter question?

Our 2011 Rockwood fifth wheel has a factory installed water filter housing in the basement storage compartment. It is behind a padded divider wall. Has anyone taken this wall out and did you leave it out or put it back? Does much or any water spill out in the compartment? I have not attempted to remove the panel, so I have only seen the top part of the filter housing. Thanks for imput on a simple question, Tom-s

Yea, removed the wall, replaced filter. There is some spillage. Have a rag or towel handy. I replaced the wall. Only 1/2 dozen screws.

Tom,

Took out a big chunk of the wall to try (unsuccessfully as it turned out) to get access when I had to remove the filter for winterizing. VERY messy procedure IMO.

Wound up REMOVING the useless water filter and replaced it with a Shurflo pressure tank.

I use a Wally World hose mounted water filter on the city water line.
TastePURE KDF/Carbon Water Filter - Camco RV 40043 - Water Filtration - Camping World

It costs the same as the OEM replacement cartridge that has to be tossed every year when you winterize anyway. No messy winterizing.

Don't know how close your trailer is to my Flagstaff, but after finding the water filter (when trailer was new) found it almost impossible to install the filter element. Later when unscrewing the three screwed shut doors, found one was access to the filter (left one under t. v.) Other one was a large speaker, and another one was access to the furnace. Wayne

As you can see, the only access to the filter housing in my camper was through the wall of the basement. Trying to go through the sink cabinet would involve major de-construction of the sink base. (Which was almost required to gain access to the water heater bypass valves. Turned out to be only MINOR deconstruction that involved removing wooden panels from under the sink.
